What do you do when you want to others to enjoy what you create?? For us, it was to start a Brewery; and this is our beginning!
We are Salty Nut Brewery, an up and coming Microbrewery in Huntsville, AL, specializing in Craft Beer.
You may be wondering what in the heck craft beer is? Well let us tell ya! Craft beer is beer outside of the status quo. This is not your average brew. Craft Beer is made to be distinct and have flavor that you wouldn't find in your run of the mill, mass appeal beer.
Having a passion for this style of beer has given us a desire to start a brewery, and share our creations with other beer lovers of all sorts. You may be an avid craft beer drinker, or this may have been the first you have heard of it; either way, we hope you join us for the ride!
The Bottom Line....
The bottom line is actually quite simple; we want to share our brew creations with others. We questioned how we could do this, so on went our all powerful thinking caps. To our surprise the solution was given rather speedily, start a brewery. By opening a brewery we can readily bestow our passion to you (the drinker).
With a dream comes a plan....
Have you ever sat and thought, "I wish I could do this" or "I wish I could do that"? We sure did, so we decided to do something about it. We are ramping up to becoming a fully functional brewery. We did our homework and have taken the necessary steps to get started; we have met with distributors, found a location, purchased initial equipment and created (from scratch) six brews to get us started (and others hooked on what we offer). We are also getting licenses in place to allow us to fully functional (this was required). Licenses, equipment, merchandising cost; these are just a few of the things it takes to get a brewery going; and we are trekking down the path to get these accomplished.
Where do you come in??
You may have read the above and asked yourself, "What does this have to do with me"? Well let us tell ya that too! We want you to have a part in our dream. With your help we can secure what we set out to do over a year ago.
Although running a brewery is going to be fun and allow us to do what we love, we also realize this is a business; and businesses must be run with sense and sensibility (high school Literature class reference).
To show you that we have come to the start a business table with a plan we have collectively started with a "nest egg" of $12,000; this money will allow us to start and will keep us going for a few months, but outside of having a financial cushion comes other cost; utilities, grains, hops, merchandising, design work, all of these things play a role and they add up.
We plan on sticking around for a while, and with your donations you will be able to play a part in allowing us to do just that!
Who are we anyways?
As a team, we are Salty Nut Brewery, but who are we on the individual level??
Brent Cole - Head Brewmaster/President - Brent will admit he used to be a "bitter beer" fan, but was soon turned on to the craft beer movement, and ever since then, there has been no looking back. With a desire to create craft beer and share it with the world, that is what he has set out to do.
Mark Ivie - VP of Operations - He put this title on his business card, so we stuck with it. Mark is also a design engineer by day, and by night, well, we won't go there. Mark was the guy who shared craft beer with Brent. Realizing that he likes his own beer better than some others, he wanted the rest to taste what he was making!
Daniel Yant - Financial Analyst - Daniel has a passion for a good brew; with this passion he brings a desire to create new and innovative brews to the table, and the fact he can run our financials is okay too.
Your Starting Lineup......
**Note: Country slang/wording may be used below, please do not critique or spell check**
HopNaughty IPA - This is our flagship brew. Weighing in at around 7.1% ABV and hailing from the 65IBU range, this brew has alot to offer. Piney/Woodsy taste with an ever so slightly lingering bitterness, and dry hopped for that wonderful citrus aroma. This is one IPA that will surely satisfy
Nom Nom Porter - This is a brew for the masses. And I say this with confidence. A brew that is not your typical porter (and that's how we like it). With a subtle chocolatey taste, with a roasted coffee bite (that doesn't hurt), this is a porter you will want to add to your "must try" list.
Imperial Moustache Red - Being a fan of Red's and not seeing many on the market, we had to make one. We composed a recipe that pushed the style limits. Starting with grains that are pertinent to the style, but not in the norm, we have an Irish Red Ale that gives to a smooth caramel taste with just the right finish off the palate. Brewed with a handful of extra hops to give that hop bite (compare to the bite you once got from the toy poodle down the street), this is a Red that will meet all your desires.
Although these are our initial offerings, we have some more to follow:
- Sweet Potato Ale
- Nut Brown Ale
- Christmas Stout
