It's DnD!
Man oh man, we are having way more fun than anyone has a right to have working on a show. Seriously.
Example? Last night we had the cast play through a game of Dungeons and Dragons together. A few of the cast members had played before, but it was definitely a newbie training session - what die is which, what do all of these silly numbers on this piece of paper mean, and what do you mean that unicorn can talk??? Loads of fun and lots of laughs were had all around.
Some highlights from the evening:
-The barbarian using the dwarf as a battering ram to open the first door.
-The wizard waking up the unicorn by playing a mandolin and singing abominably. He rolled a two on his "musical abilities" check.
-The dwarf (we'll forgive her because it was her first time) after looting a treasure chest trying to make off with 250 gold without splitting it with the party. She tried to squeeze through the crevice in the wall but got stuck, so the rogue took her purse and split it evenly with everyone. He was then docked 50 experience points for doing the right thing.
It was great seeing them play together for the first time. I sat back and observed (doing that director thing, you know) so I had the chance to do a little photo documentation that I will now share with you!
Unfortunately, I can't label the photos themselves, so here are some clues so you can meet our lovely cast:
John Alex: Alfred Rudzki (red shirt and beard behind the DM screen)
John Francis: Ryan Boland (striped polo and glasses)
Tara: Jacque McFadden (Dark hair, grey sweatshirt)
Linda: Hillary Heath (The other lady)
Jason: Chris Richardson (Purple shirt)
Brandon: Dan Shaver (Plaid shirt, dark curly mop)
Enjoy!
Castles and Cooks and Success!
We've officially done it! Thanks again to everyone who donated and spread the word about the project. We really couldn't have done it without you and we are all super stoked to get started on all of our technical work that will make the show come alive!
In other exciting news, the Ogle-production of ODaM is featured today on the Castles and Cooks blog! After a really fun interview last week with Tom Hoeler, co-editor of the blog and one of our fabulous backers, this awesome article is up for all of the interwebs to see! Cameron McNary also has a blurb in the article (ohmygoodnesshesaidnicethingsaboutus) so definitely give it a read! A great big thank you to Tom and the CandC team for the fabulous write up!
Check it out!
Our project is featured in the Oglethorpe University blog today! It's a fun write up - check it out!

The photo in the article is an action shot from our rehearsal last night featuring our John Francis (Ryan Boland), Tara (Jacque McFadden), and John Alex (Alfred Rudzki) while we worked on our read through. Table work continues tonight and we start staging tomorrow!
And while I'm yakking at you - there are two days left for raising money. We have met our goal thanks to all of you, but every dollar helps. Furthermore, any and all publicity for the show is good publicity and is greatly appreciated!
You guys are awesome.
~Danielle
Goooooooooooooooal!
We've done it! YOU'VE done it! Thank you all so much for your support and for helping to spread the word.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
We still have a WHOLE WEEK left for funding! The $1,200 is a wonderful start for us, but we still have a lot of expenses that will need to be covered and any additional money that can be raised will help us make the show even better! So, if you can take a minute out of your day to tell someone about how awesome you are by helping us make theatre happen, we would certainly appreciate the continued word of mouth!
I'm sure by now you are wondering if we are ever going to post anything at all about the project itself - and the answer is yes! This Thursday will be our first rehearsal and I will be posting pictures and other fun little tidbits as we go through the process. Also, it turns out people like us on the internet, so I will soon be posting links to some nifty interviews that I've been working on - one local piece and one with one our lovely backers, Tom Hoeler, of the blog Castles and Cooks (http://castlesandcooks.com/).
I can't wait to share our journey with you all as we work to bring this show to the stage! Thank you again for helping to make this possible.
~Danielle
