Hi Kari,
We are editing the film now and for the next several months. It's up to a distributor as to when it will come out. When the film is complete and all the art work and logos are done, we will make a special custom version of the merchandise for backers, send that to you guys and DVDs when it comes out on DVD. So the short answer is some time in 2012.
XO
Regina
Any updates now as to when the documentary will be coming out or when we'll be receiving our goodies :) ?
We are in production. No word on when it will be ready.
Hey, I was just wondering how the making of the documentary is coming along. Where are we at so far? And can anybody give an estimate as to when it will be out?
I have a Metal Health Condition Critical Record not CD Recored ! ! !
Wait I wanna be apart of this to ! ! !
I'm SOOO happy and proud that this is going to happen. And about time too!!!!!
Frankie and Regina, much love to you both!!!
Carmine
Rock N' Roll everybody! So glad the goal has been reached, +. Thank you Frankie and Regina for putting this together, I am just one of many looking forward to this documentary. Quiet Riot Forever! RIP Kevin DuBrow. Much love and support! Keep rockin' Frankie, good luck with the ongoing work for this project.
Kevin Dubrow's Mom thanks all of you for your generosity and devotion. My son would be soooo thrilled and proud of all of you and especially proud of his dear friend Frankie whom I love and who is like another son to me!!
All right! Looks like we are getting the documentary!!! Rock-N-Roll!
Wooo hooooooooooo..Congrats you two.....Kevin is so smiling right now...
Super COOOL !!! You made it Frankie and Regina. This is something so special.
Congrats Frankie, Regina and backers! A great effort! i'm sure it will be an awesome doco! :)
We did it! We f-in' did it! Great job, everybody!!!! Man, I cannot WAIT for this DVD! With Frankie Banali's involvement, I know this documentary is going to be done the right way! It would be nice to see this aired on VH1 Classic. They seem to be heavy metal & Quiet Riot friendly. Kev, I followed your advice: I was blasting both the QR III and Setlist LIVE CD in my car today. I'll tell ya, it just doesn't get any better than "The Pump" and "Sign Of The Times" LIVE from 1984!
AWESOME!!!!!!!! I cannot wait till this comes out. Frankie thanks for sharing your video archives. The next question is, what's the release date?!?!?!?!?!?!? Please keep us posted.
rock on people...... \m/ \m/
I heard about this project on Eddie Trunk "Live", and thought it was a great idea. I am
so glad that Frankie Is doing this for "Quiet Riot", as it is long over due. I became a backer even though the goal was met because I wanted to be apart of heavy metal history. Congratulations Frankie and Regina and thanks a million.
When I woke up this morning and saw Frankie's announcement on Facebook...I couldn't believe my eyes!!!!! I was so extremely happy and relieved like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders....as I was so worried that we wouldn't meet the deadline...but like a miracle it happened!! and I am so overwhelmed with emotion!!!! Congratulations Frankie and Regina!! You guys are so awesome!!! What you are doing for Metal is truly amazing!!! Kevin would be so proud!!
God bless his soul....and God Bless you guys and everyone else who helped make this happen!!!
I look forward in anticipation for this DVD to hit the shelves!!!!!!!!!!!
Till then ....." Bang Your Head" everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Horns High!!!! \m/
Hugs xo
WOW! We did it! I'm so happy. The documentary is going to happen after all! YES! That's a very good idea, Kevin. I think I'll listen to Metal Health (the whole album) or play "Metal Health" on Guitar Hero (the 80's one!). Whoever boosted the goal from $16,000 to $21,000...here's to you!
Wow! we met the goal!
I'm in shock - I came back to the site after a few hours, and see it has reached the goal. I just wanted to say thanks to all the people out there who donated towards making this a reality, and, especially, thanks to Mr. Banali for making this a reality!
This is a very special day in QUIET RIOT’s history. All of us backers have done a nice job with helping this project meet its goal. I am very proud to be a lifelong supporter and backer of all things QUIET RIOT but none so more near and dear to me than the making of this film by FRANKIE. We all know what a great drummer Frankie is but there is no one more passionate or cares more for the music and the history of QUIET RIOT than FRANKIE BANALI. Frankie is a fantastic drummer hands down but he also is a first class guy – who cares about the supporters of QUIET RIOT and has always help make whatever project QUIET RIOT was working on the very best that it could be. I cannot wait to see this true treasure of QUIET RIOT’s history and knowing we all helped back this film makes it all the more special. High five to my good buddy James for his QUIET RIOT friendship and support all these years. Job well done! It is a GREAT day to be a QUIET RIOT believer!
Pick up a CD and listen to a QUIET RIOT song today! Celebrate the music and Bang Your Head!
Hey everybody. I'm a younger Quiet Riot fan, as I'm 18. I've loved QR since I heard my uncle had opened for them a few years back, which was around 2002 or 2003. I thought that "Cum on Feel the Noise" was one of the heaviest songs I had heard when I first heard it on a music channel. I went to Tower Records and bought Metal Health, which is still today one of my all time favorite albums. I got more from the band such as Condition Critical, QR III, QR 88, Alive and Well, and Rehab. When Kevin died in 2007, I was devastated. I immediately got as much as I could. Since March of this year, I officially own all 11 QR albums (that includes the two with Randy on them. Got them online...). I've also spoken and interviewed Rudy Sarzo and Kelly Garni on the phone and earlier this year, I did an email interview with Carlos! Quiet Riot has had a special place in my heart and because of that, I have donated $25 for this thing to happen. I've put this link in my blog and on RateYourMusic. It looks like you guys went from $13,000 to $16,000. I want to see this happen very badly. Rock on!
Except for a couple brief hiatuses, QUIET RIOT rocked the house in one form or another from 1975 through 2007. This band sold tens of millions of records. And, in my opinion, there was no American heavy metal band more responsible for launching this genre of music into the mainstream. For all these reasons, this documentary NEEDS to happen! This band is so deserving of it's own documentary. But, time is not on our side. With only 3 days left at the time I write this, time is quickly running out! If you know anyone out there -- even a "casual" fan -- who might be the least bit interested, please get the word out to them asap! Also, if you can afford to edit your pledge and add another $10, $25, or whatever to your total, PLEASE do so. If enough of us add on just a bit more, we can still make this thing happen! This is our opportunity to be part of QUIET RIOT history! This project has been such a blast! I want give a shout out to my friend Kevin B. (a.k.a, the walking QUIET RIOT encyclopedia) for making me aware of this great project! I want to thank Frankie and Regina one last time for launching this! I wish you both the best of luck! I've really enjoyed the daily updates and will be bummed when they go away in just a few short days. But not nearly as bummed as I will be if this documentary doesn't happen. So let's put our helping hands together rockin' on for the survival of this documentary! Let us never forget the late, great Kevin DuBrow and the legendary QUIET RIOT!
BANG YOUR HEAD ... ALWAYS!!!!
Hey guys,
This is a great project and I wish I had money to contribute but what I CAN offer you is free audio post work on this. I'd be delighted to mix/sweeten this pro bono. My only issue is I mix full time for a facility so it would have to squeeze around that schedule but I'm a very quick mixer.
I'm based in CT but I'm a big QR fan!
Also I'm a Protools Sound Desginer/mixer...check me out at
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0657332/
There are ONLY THREE DAYS left. Please, I'm begging all you Quiet Riot fans out there, make SOME kind of contribution to this cause. I, for one, want to see this doc get made. My hat goes off to Frankie for supporting and so fiercely fighting for this cause. And I think this thing, if it gets made, would be the ultimate testament to the memory of Kevin DuBrow (may he rest in peace.)
ANY contribution helps. If you're a QR fan, PLEASE make some kind of donation!
Come on everyone - we have less than a week to go!!! Everyone reading this wants the film to be made - now is the time to do all that you can to see this project through - whether that means increasing your pledge if at all possble or with telling your friends about how they can help support this project! Please take some time to do what you can and let's all be part of something great in QUIET RIOT's history.
Wow! I'm finally on board. This is definately a project worth being involved with. QUIET RIOT in my opinion was a "VERY" underated band. There was a lot more to them than the "Metal Health" album. Unfortunately, I also believed crunge had a slight play in that, but forgotten albums like III, Terrified, Alive And Well, Guilty Pleasures and Rehab? A bunch of great material among those albums. Let's not forget Kevin's "Covers" album, In For The Kill...he sounded in top form on that as well. Frankie, you are a stand-up guy... your love for Kevin and the band are so very evident. I truly hope your wish is granted here with a well deserved documentary, for a well deserved rock band. Let's get a resurgence of Quiet Riot...for the band and it's diehard fans. Anvil anybody?
I love all things classic rock/metal. Needless to say, I just HAD to donate to make this thing a reality. With one week to go, I hope more people step forward to make this a reality. Quiet Riot music has always been an important part of my metal-loving life, and I have no doubt this documentary would be just plain awesome.
I had the luxury of seeing Kevin DuBrow live in concert just 3 months before he died - and this was a man filled with more energy and charisma than most performers half his age. To say he entertained me would be an understatement.
This is a classic metal band that demands the quintessential documentary. I just made a donation on here, and it isn't much, but if it can go towards making this feature a reality, I'm pretty damn happy.
Quiet Riot Metal Health changed my life and I am exited to be backing this project and look forward to seeing the results.
Frankie - You are a class act and I hope to meet you and shake your hand someday. Hope your doing well.
- C
I will never forget the spring of 83 when my ears first heard feel the noize. my life has never been the same. then christmas of 83 mom getting me the metal health lp, what a present!!!
even though i never had a chance to see the band in the 80's i made up for it from 91 to 05. meeting kevin and carlos in the summer of 91 was sooo exciting for me. then in 93 meeting frankie and also rudy in 97 i was happy as can be.
it was in 97 where i actually got to know all the guys on a personal level. i can honestly say that i got to like all of them more then i did before. To give you an idea how nice they were to hang out with, my wife who was never into metal music couldnt stay away from going to a qr show.
the guys alway made a qr concert quite an experience for us, went to many soundchecks (even have pics of frankie with my 4yr old playing drums on stage, thanks frankie he just set up his fist set in my basement couple days ago!) send me a case of advil! lol.
then the shows themselves were amazing! didnt matter if it was a club or arena they always played hard and gave 100%. then the time we spent together after the show i will never forget.
i been to dozens and dozens of shows in many states including a hawaii and i never had a bad time. i want to thank frankie for all hes doing to get this done, and for all he did to make sure that my wife, friends and i had a great time when they were in town.
i could alway count on seeing qr at least 1 to 5x per yr for 15 years. ever since the passing of the best metal singer in my time, my interst level for any show now is gone.
Kevin was an amazing singer, performer and happy to say an wonderful and funny person. he was always fun to talk to cause he was witty and smart about many topics. even at the end he was in great shape physically and his voice was better then it was in the 80's which cant be said for most others.
in closing i want to thank frankie for so much!!! (i miss you buddy) and to Kevin who will never be forgotten, rest in piece sweet angel!
When was the last time that one of your favorite bands gave you the opportunity to be part of something so unique such as a film documentary of the band’s history? When was the last time a band gave you something back like live and rare video footage? When was the last time a band gave you more for your buck than just a regular CD or DVD?
The answer is right NOW – the stage is being set for FRANKIE BANALI’S QUIET RIOT documentary – it is up to each and every one of you backers and non-backers who share a love of QUIET RIOT’S music and history to become part of this event and make it happen. The clocking is ticking and now is the time to support QUIET RIOT and FRANKIE’S efforts to make this film. Tell your friends – tell your family – and pledge your support today! Check out some of the great pledge packages you will receive by making your pledge – there is nowhere else you can get these rewards and nowhere else where you will see the QUIET RIOT footage.
Become a backer – see all video updates and become a part of QUIET RIOT’S history.
Join me – tell your friends – ROCK THE HOUSE with QUIET RIOT!
What an awesome project. Like James S (above), I first saw QR in '83 at the same venue in Harrisburg PA while QR was opening for Loverboy. I was 12 also. It was my first concert ever. When I saw the black and white stripes of the drums and mic stands, I was blown away. There they were, my idols. Hearing Kevin's voice and the songs I loved so much is an experience I will never forget.
Frankie/Regina good luck with the project. I will pass this on to all my friends. Looking forward to the documentary. BTW Frankie great interview with Eddie Trunk on 8/16. I hope that will give us the boost we need to get this thing into production.
best wishes
I can't believe there are 17 days left, and only 80 backers so far....come one people..make some noise and make your pledge if you wanna see this happen!!!!! It's all up to YOU!!
Frankie and Regina...you both are doing such a fantastic job!!! Full credit to you!!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!! All the best and really hope that many more people get behind this and help you finish this wonderful project!!!
Horns High!!! \m/
Hugs xoxo
I'll always be proud of the Quiet Riot shows I promoted at The Door in Saranac Lake, NY back in 2003. It was my 4 year anniversary in the bar business and the 20th anniversary of QR's "Metal Health." Frankie Banali was a true professional and a down to earth human being. I hope his QR project comes to fruition. Good luck, Frankie!!
Another day - another great update for all backers. The latest one features a great clip from 1993 with a line up of Frankie, Kevin, Carlos and Kenny Hillery. The time is now to increase your pledge as much as you can and to spread the word to all QUIET RIOT fans about this great opportunity to be part of such of historical documentary of a great band!! Connect with all your old and new QUIET RIOT fans & friends and help make this film a reailty for all of us!
OK folks! With 20 days left, we're doing pretty good, but still about $12K away from meeting the goal. Please help spread the word about this great project! Look at all this amazing footage Frankie & Regina are posting! This is just a TASTE of the amazing stuff that's in their archives. Think how CRUSHED we will all be if this project doesn't happen and all this amazing stuff goes back into the vault. Just imagine seeing some of these rare 1984 LIVE performances in their entirety! Think of all the great interviews, in-studio stuff, home movies, etc. that we would get! All $25 backers should strongly consider upgrading to the $50. By doing this, you get the DVD (which will probably retail for close to $25 anyway). Plus, it's signed by the drumming legend himself, Mr. Frankie Banali. It's a no-brainer! And, maybe if all other backers could dig just a little bit deeper, we can still make this thing happen! The VH1 Behind The Music special from 11 years ago didn't begin to tell the whole story of this legendary band. This time we're gonna get the whole story. This time it's gonna be done right!
I have seen some excellent footage to date, and I hope to see more great material..Keep it coming you guys rock,, You get a chance to see how down to Earth kevin really was and you get to see a side of Frankie that most of us never get too see,so nows the time to do just that,..It's gonna be great!!! Time is of the essence, so you know you wanna come on, :) just do it!!
QUIET RIOT has been my favorite band since I first heard "Cum On Feel the Noize"; and the best Christmas gift I ever got was in 1983 when I received the cassette tape of Metal Heath (from my brother who kept asking why I wanted it since I had only heard "Noize" & "Bang Your Head" at the time - those songs were so good I HAD to hear more). I spent the entire Christmas Day in 1983 listening to Metal Health on a Walkman all day long and the music really opened my eyes and ears to such amazing music by a little band called QUIET RIOT. Quiet Riot's music meant so much to me (and continues to this day) and watching and following the band and their history was something that became very important to me. Most of us know the CDs, the songs and have been to several live shows over the years - but this film is something I think that will go beyond the Cds and give us all a better idea of what and who made Quiet Riot such a terrific band and how the band came together to become a such force in rock music. I always believed in QUIET RIOT's music as a kid and over the years I had the extremely good fortune to see them perform live many times and to get to know them over the years to where I believed in them not only as great musicians but as great people who were always willingly to take the one last photo, to sign that one more picture, to answer that one more question that someone already asked - this is our chance to help create and be a part of QUIET RIOT's history and career. For everyone who has enjoyed QUIET RIOT's music half as much as I have; please take a minute and support this project and make it something that becomes a reality for all of us. From the bottom of my heart I support this project - I support FRANKIE BANALI and the film is he working so tirelessly and endlessly on in making it for the fans - he has lived this and wants to give the story back to the fans - we deserved this and this film deserves your support. Help spread the word - every little bit helps!
Hey James! Good to hear from you and thank you for all the very kind words and continued support for this project and QUIET RIOT. I remember the City Island show well. That morning I visited the cancer ward at a local children's hospital. It broke my heart, but I was so thankful that through the popularity of QUIET RIOT I was able to go there and do a little to make the kids and parents smile. We continue to go through hour after hour of footage to catalog everything. Just finishing up for the evening as we are up early tomorrow to film additional footage. Be well now and always and I just posted another clip for all you wonderful backers! Nite, Frankie B.
Frankie, thank you for your reply! I saw QR perform numerous times over the years. The first time was in 1984. I was only 12 years old (my dad took my friend and I to see you). It was an outdoor venue in Harrisburg, PA (called City Island) and 2 Canadian bands, Helix and Honeymoon Suite, opened for you guys. The last time I saw QR was in 2003 at a venue called the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA. This was literally one of the last shows with the "Metal Health" lineup. My wife and I met you guys that day and you were all class acts. I also met you at a venue called the Space Club in Philadelphia in 1999 and you guys were so great when it came to pictures, autographs, and just chatting with your fans! So, a big THANK YOU for all the wonderful music and memories over the years! I do have the new "Setlist" CD and it was great to hear some of those previously unreleased live tracks! And even though I already own the QRIII and QR(4) CDs, I will get the re-releases as I'm sure they will be remastered and hopefully include a couple extras. It sounds like you have everything that I have longed for years to see and hear: KD's MTV guest VJ footage, stage footage from the Condition Critical tour, etc. I'm sure it will be tough to narrow all this stuff down into one documentary. But just as long as there is a QR documentary, that's the most important thing! I'm really enjoying all the video clips, by the way! Great stuff!! Best wishes Frankie and thank you once again!
Hi James! Frankie replying and thanking you for your support of the documentary! That rocks and you rock! OK, I do have footage of Kevin and me on MTV when KD was the guest VJ. I also have several different Condition Critical shows on video including a complete version of Sing Of The Times live. I do already have a complete audio set of rare recordings that might someday be released, though I have no plans to do so at present since Sony/Legacy just released a QR Live CD and Rock Candy records out of the UK are planning to re-release re-mastered versions of QRIII and Q4 I am told this fall. And if that isn't enough, in my archives I have a video of the original live version of Save My Life! Be well and thanks again!
Hey Frankie and Regina. Best of luck with this project! Thank you so much for trying to make this thing happen! Us hard-core QR fans are starving for anything QR-related! Two things I would love to see on this project are: 1) any footage from when Kevin DuBrow & QR were gust VJ's on MTV back in July of 1984. And 2) Any stage footage from the Condition Critical Tour. I would love to see the opener, "Sign Of The Times" in it's entirety!! Also Frankie, any chance we'll see a Live and Rare Volume 2 CD some day? I would love to hear one of my favorite QR songs, "Red Alert," in it's original form (titled "Save My Life.").
Rock on!
Thanks Frankie... And Regina TOO!! Awesome footage!! I remember when Cum on feel the noise crossed over to AM Radio!!! QR was the very first "Metal" band to have done so!!! Great times!!

Hey guys, of course I'm always here for "moral" support. If I had some experience in audio post, I would be totally into helping. Let me do some asking around and see if I can get someone to help out for a really good deal. I'll do what I can for you both. Ciao.
Well, ya'll got plenty of material to work with. Great story. Should be great!
