Things are taking shape. The VanderMeers have made their selections and I'm beginning to get contracts out to the first confirmed contributors. The list is pretty impressive and I'm excited be working with these folks.
Here's some of the first batch:
L. Timmel DuChamp
I've known Eleanor for several years through Wiscon; we've been a number of class-issues panels and I'm thrilled she's going to be in the book.
In addition to being a respected writer, Timmi DuChamp is the publisher of Aqueduct Books, purveyors of some of the finest feminist SF being put out today. I don't know that the book would be complete without her involvement.
I've seen Carol speak at Wiscon, as a guest-of-honor and as a panelist and I'm a fan of her work. An enduring image of my first Wiscon was to see her and China Miéville on stage together.
Eileen too is another Wiscon stalwart (it should be no surprise that the leading feminist SF convention would have a number of connections to this anthology, being in part a big part of how it happened); one of my early experiences in publishing was working with her during a book tour for her short story collection, Stable Strategies and Others.
Susan Palwick, Pamela Sargent, Vandana Singh, and Kelley Eskridge are all writers I've had recommended to me at various points and I look forward to becoming more familiar with their writing. A great bonus of this project is filling in some of the gaps in my own feminist SF reading list.
More updates to come as we march forward. Thanks again for your patience and support.
