Shannon Gillen & Guests, a dance theater company based in NYC has been invited to premiere its latest project, CLAP FOR THE WOLFMAN at the Ontological-Hysteric Theater May 12th - 14th and then will tour the work to Canada for the Montreal Fringe in June. This project involves dance artists Xan Burley, Janna Diamond, Frances Chiaverini, Kristin Swiat, and Genna Baroni. The company is thrilled to be developing its third evening length piece with such an extraordinary cast and has been hard at work in the studio since October. We will present work in progress excerpts of CLAP on February 21st at Judson Church and on March 12th at the Flea Theater. In effort to cover costs related to rehearsal space, costumes, lighting design, travel and accommodation in Canada, and most importantly the dancers' commission, we are seeking the fundraising powers of Kickstarter and you. We aim to raise $2500 here as part of a larger budgetary goal of $6,000.

There are some great ways we'd like to reward you for your support, including a post-show reception at the Ontological after one of our performances. There will be drinks, delicious snacks, post-show antics and tons of merry-making! There are plenty of other fun rewards for donating, so check out the level that works for you. Our heart felt thanks!

About SHANNON GILLEN & GUESTS: The company utilizes different physical and contextual standpoints within a space to construct layered feeling states. These feeling states are rooted in questioning the emotional life embedded in form, content and location. Rigorous choreographic experimentation and a commitment to the emotional spontaneity of the moment are ultimately what shape the context and performance of the work. Being expressionistic by nature, the creative process is indelibly shaped by the presence of the performers. www.shannongillen.com

About CLAP FOR THE WOLFMAN: CFTW is a physical progression that deals directly with the way in which a person attains and relinquishes the state of being FREE. Referencing the texture and materiality of the woods, performers explore the rapture of sensation and the extremes of mental emancipation. The soundscore is comprised of pre-recorded found sound in addition to the sonic landscape created live on stage.

More information on the Incubator Arts Project: The Incubator Arts Project supports independent, experimental performing artists through a series of programs aimed at offering production opportunities and help with long-term growth and artistic sustainability. Its programs primarily support world premieres of original work and also include a concert series, work in progress opportunities and artist salons and roundtables. www.incubatorarts.org

More information on the Montreal Fringe: The Montreal Fringe was started in 1991 by Kris Kieran and Nick Morra, and took place on and around St-Laurent Boulevard. In 1996, Jeremy Hechtman became producer of the festival, and the Fringe became one of the Plateau-Mile-End's largest cultural events. http://montrealfringe.ca/en/content/artistes-2011-artists
