About this project

Artloop connects art supporters with student art programs in new ways online and offline. For this launch project we collected student art from two NYC schools in partnership with teachers, students and their families (see below for more info), and we're offering this art in a variety of forms in exchange for pledges. If our project is successful, all of the donation proceeds (after Artloop's basic administrative and materials costs) will go back to the school art programs for supplies and class projects. Now on to the donor rewards - see the full list of options in the sidebar!

Original Student Art Click here for our slide show of student works!
Back us at the $60 level (or $75 with two Launch Gala invites) and own a completely unique work of student art! Each image in the slide show above is one work, and works will be mounted for display. If you pledge to buy an art work, please email colin@artloop.net with your full name and the number of the work (X##) that you'd like. I'll get back to you as soon as I can to confirm everything.

Click "Show Info" in the slide show for the numbers, sizes, mediums, and source schools of each work. Works marked "reserved" are already spoken for, sorry!

Framed High Quality Art Prints Click here to see the seven art work print selections!
We worked with Loupe Digital to scan seven works to offer as high-quality, framed art prints to our donors. The prints look great individually or in a set, so you can choose one 11x14 or four 5x7 prints from the slide show in exchange for backing us at the $45 level. You can also choose one 5x7 print at the $15 level. All frames will be Quadro glass clip frames.

Artloop T-Shirts and Tote Bags artloopteemocktaglinetotemocktagline
We've turned one of our student art works into t-shirt and tote bag designs with the awesome help of Sheepshead Design! Back us at the $20 level to receive a tote (natural color, bag details here) or the $25 level to receive a shirt (American Apparel beige color, men's and women's, will request size after project closes). Each item will be screen printed in four colors. Click the images above to see larger versions of the design mock-ups.

Artloop Launch Gala
Two weeks after this project ends on September 21, we're throwing a big arts event to celebrate with our backers! Pledge $10 and mark your calendar for Saturday, October 3rd, 2-5pm, then come see all of the work from this project displayed in my Brooklyn apartment. It's a big, unique space, and it will be covered in art and stocked with refreshments! This setting felt right for our first project, especially one that offers backers the chance to enjoy student art in their own homes, offices, or wherever!

If you're not sure about buying an original or print in advance, don't miss the Launch Gala! It's a great way to participate, and if you're struck by a work in person that is still available, you can up your pledge at the event to claim it. Reserved original works and prints can be taken home from the gala (encouraged!) as well.

Email Thanks and Wallpaper Downloads
Back us at the $5 level and we'll send you an email thank you and a link to download wallpaper images of our seven art print selections. We'll ask you for computer/iPhone/etc specs after the project's ended and hook you up the best that we can!

Other Notes
Click the green "Back This Project" button at the top of the page to go through the easy Kickstarter signup process and make your pledge. Note that our project is only funded if it reaches its $1000 goal. If that happens, you'll be charged at the end of the project. We also take pledges over our $1000 goal -- we hope it's just a baseline!

If you're interested in a combination of donor rewards that isn't among the options above (gala invite and shirt, print and tote, etc), just shoot me an email and we'll figure out a way to make it happen!

Don't live near NYC? No problem! While there's a strong local angle to this project (enjoy and help the arts from your city's schools!), we'd love to have backers from all over. We're sorry that some of you might have to miss the Launch Gala, but most of the other rewards travel fairly well and we should be able to take shipping out of your donation amount. We'll contact you with any difficulties. If you go in for an original work or large print and know we'll need to ship it a long way to reach you, though, we'd appreciate your adding a bit extra to your donation.

Because all of our backers will receive material rewards in return, contributions are not tax-deductible. However, Artloop is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. You can make a tax-deductible donation that will help Artloop pursue its mission of supporting and celebrating arts education in new ways by contributing at this Fractured Atlas page.

Project Background
So, where did this art work come from? Artloop's partnerships with two New York schools were inspired by discussions with art teachers this spring about the huge amounts of work produced in their classes and the openness of students to giving back a piece or two to support the art program (art is regularly lost or thrown away otherwise). Artloop received full permission from students and their families to collect donations of art work in classrooms to use in this fundraising project. We were thrilled to collect the 35+ pieces in the slide show!

Many thanks to art teacher Amanda Capalbo and everyone at Middle School 88 in Brooklyn and to art teacher Paul Nowell and everyone at the Institute for Collaborative Education high school in Manhattan for all of their help!

Despite their amazing work and potential, arts programs (In New York City and nationwide) face numerous challenges, especially in these tough economic times. Artloop is committed to building supportive new communities around arts education programs and their students’ incredible work through projects that are accessible, mutually beneficial and sustainable.
