THE STORY

Wisp, written & directed by Nicholas Checker, is a contemporary "fairy tale" with a bit of a dark edge. It's a tale of a young woman so caught up in overachieving, she winds up tempting the supernatural when she's upstaged by a teenage rival. The result: a harrowing showdown in an eerie quarter of the forest where fabled woodland spirits engage her in a spiritual duel between her ambitions and her morality. Audiences will relate for sure.

THE PRODUCTION

The current Wisp project is a 19 minute short Nightshade Productions intends to see make an impressive festival run and generate the resources for an eventual feature-length. 

THE PEOPLE INVOLVED

Writer/Director Nicholas Checker has written, produced and directed a number of successful independent films over the last decade which premiered in cinemas and were shown in prominent film festivals, also winning awards. He has also been hired to write screenplays for other companies and recently published a novel via Kindle/Amazon.

Director of Photography Bill Hamell has been a cinematographer  and photographer for over 30 years and is vice president of the Southeastern Connecticut Filmmakers. (SECT Film) Bill's specialty is Film Narratives and Wildlife photography, when not shooting Bill enjoys learning new technologies and teaching filmmaking.

Editor/Visual Effects Supervisor Mark Alan K has a background in drawing, painting, and photography. His move from paper and canvas to the digital world started in 1982. In 1996 he transitioned to Adobe Photoshop and freelanced his photoshop skills while learning an array of 2D compositing and 3D modeling and animations applications which have helped him produce award winning short films.

WHERE THE FUNDS ARE GOING

We have raised a small amount of money already which will help with the production cost. The funds from our kickstarter campaign will help cover the remaining production costs. 

The rest of the funds will help with all the post production costs, dvd productions, festival entry fees, and promotional material.
