I have been accepted to attend Starry Night Residency in Truth or Consequences New Mexico for the month of May and am looking for funding to help me attend. The Residency would give me the chance to explore a different direction in my paintings. For the past few years I have examined the longing for identity and the subsequent expectations associated with identity and memory through the use of the miniature and decoy. Recently, I have been keenly aware of the tangled relationships between humans, animals and nature as well as the relationships between animals (predator-prey, loss, fear, empathy) and how they parallel my own relationships with family and my own understanding of the natural world. I will use this time to create a new body of work.
