About this project
Currently, in popular culture, body painting is closely associated with eroticism and exploitation of human body. I want to change this perception and show how body painting is a serious art form that celebrates and elevates the human body.
To do this, I started a series for reproduction of famous masterpieces as body paintings. I choose the work by artists who I admire and has been influential in my artistic growth such as Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt.
I would like to make these images available to inspire more people by making them available in the form of a photo book that consists of 30 body painting images.
Your support is needed to help me fund the production of the remaining images that I need to create (approx 8-10 more) for this series. It will also cover the cost of the production of the photo books.

Danny Setiawan is an Indonesian born visual artist who combines traditional and digital media in his art.
Danny immigrated to the United States in 1997, and earned his Masters of Fine Arts degree in multimedia from Parsons School of Design in New York in 2003.
In many of his recent works, Danny uses human body as his canvas. Some of his creations, immediately recognizable replications of great paintings of the past, are tributes to his predecessors.
Danny’s work has been featured on TV shows and magazines in the US, Europe and Asia.
Danny currently lives and works in New York City
