The Last Sleeper Virtual Production

Update #11 · Sep 12, 2012 · 5 comments

Hi all,

Apologies for the delay. We've been working pretty hard on the technology side of things to create the proper production framework to deliver episodes of the Last Sleeper.

The technology to which I refer can be found in the video (yes, video: no more Wall of Text updates). It's the same type of tech that was used on films like Avatar and Alice in Wonderland to plan out and execute the heavily CGI footage.

For us, the technology allows us to quickly iterate on the different scenes without relying on 2D art (which can be VERY  be expensive).

I am really excited to show this to you guys, as it has been a long time coming. We finally have the proper setup to make the Sleeper as it is required: with the scale of 3D objects and 2D art that provides the most singularly expressive image of each beat of the story.

In the coming weeks I'll be sharing more of this technology and showing just what it's allowing us to do on the iPad.

Onward,

Kendall
