If we don't make our Kickstarter...Contingency Plan!!!
Hi all,
Thank you so much for backing our project! You are amazing for believing in this dream, and doing your part in seeing it come alive.
Here's the thing, we have 29 hours to go and we've been able to raise over $7,000! That's great, but clearly we are quite short from meeting our very ambitious goal, and we will not receive any of the funds we've raised so far. Does the dream stop here? NO! Since launching the Kickstarter, a number of exciting things have happened, which have kept us going!
- We've been featured in most recently on CNN, Huffington Post, Afri-love.com, and I got to share an Op-ed in the Global Journal. Along with several other news outlets.
- We've created a key partnership with the DC Mayor's Office on African Affairs, with many more partnerships in the pipeline.
- Kathleen Bomani recently spoke at the Africa Utopia event in London about the importance of shifting the way media covers Africa.
- We've also gotten a slew of new followers on Twitter, facebook, and Tumblr, they have all reached out to us about how excited they are to see this project come to life.
- We've already been in talks numerous corporations about sponsorship.
- We were also just granted fiscal sponsorship by Third World Newsreel, giving us access to a wider pool of grants.
The point is we have a responsibility to make this project happen by any means necessary, and we will make it happen. Us not reaching our Kickstarter goal is surely not the end of My Africa Is.
So no matter what happens please stay in touch with us, you can do so by emailing us at info@myafricais.com, or keeping up with us on our Tumblr.
You guys are the best!
Nosa
PS: This is the poster artist Sindiso Nyoni created for us, it's so bad ass! This could be yours...
