Hola everybody, Floco Torres here. You probably already know I’m from Willingboro, NJ, but that I’ve been living in Macon GA almost 3 years now. Last summer I released my EP, "Psycadelphia,"as my first official project living in Macon. This January, I started working on my first full-length album, "Floco's Modern Life", an idea that came from Jesse Altman the badass drummer in Citizen Insane. Obviously the name plays off of Rocko's Modern Life, the cartoon. What can I say? I’m a big kid.

When I first came to Macon, a city I lived in when I was an actual kid, I didn’t realize how deep the music history here is—home of Otis Redding, Little Richard, James Brown, the Allman Brothers and a bunch more—but what I did notice is how tight and creative the community of musicians is here now. The hard rock indie guys hang out with and make music with the folk/acoustic musicians. Guys like me, doing hip-hop, share the stage with punk, metal, prog rock and whatever else there is out there. That’s part of what makes this place special: From the Golden Bough and Macon Noise to the 567 and theBlueIndian.com—and everything before them and between—we’ve got a community of people really working together to make something happen.

Teaming up with Kickstarter is another step forward, a way to get Macon’s music scene out on the road so other folks can see what we’ve got here. The money you donate will help pay for the recording, mastering and pressing of the record. We're going to keep as much of this in Macon as we can, building on the work we've been doing with our local talents.

We're still working to finish the album but we have so many awesome features already lined up. From Jared Wright of Roly-Bots, Heather Kemp of Oh Dorian, Shawn Williamson of Citizen Insane, Alec Stanley, and so many more. So this isn’t just a Floco thing because really, I wouldn’t even be here now if it wasn’t for you all. This is about making something happen on our own because no one is going to do it for us.

The idea is to have an album I can tour with. Like a handful of our local acts, I've played in a few other cities but we haven't had that tour yet. I want to get out there, make connections, learn some things the hard way and get this music out on the road. Funding this project will help me do that. I'm turning "Floco’s Modern Life" into a guinea pig in the experiment to see what we can accomplish working together. I know I'm not the only one who can use Kickstarter as a tool to make things happen.
