WHAT WE'RE DOING
We are 3 seasoned comedy writers/performers who are looking to produce the pilot episode of a sitcom that we wrote.  The intent is to create a polished 22-minute pilot that we will be able to use in our eventual pitch to T.V. networks.  Focusing primarily (although not exclusively) on the Canadian market, we hope to get the green-light for the show to air on broadcast television.  We have written 6 episodes of the series so far and have already filmed a few parts of the pilot which can be seen in the trailer above.

WHAT WE NEED
We're currently looking for a small budget to complete production on the pilot. We have already completed some sequences that didn't require a lot of equipment, but we have since stalled on filming because we don't have the materials to capture some of the more complex shots that we require.  While we have a camera and some basic audio equipment on hand, we will need to rent a dolly, some better mics, and other assorted A/V materials to finish the entire project.  Additionally, while the writers and actors have all agreed to do their parts for free, we still need to pay (and feed) our musicians and our director nominal amounts for helping us out.  All told, we're sure that we can complete a high-quality, polished product for less than $1500.  We're asking for $900 on Kickstarter to cover less than 2/3 of our production needs, and any additional funds raised will help to offset further travel, lodging, and related costs for our pitch sessions with networks. 

THE SERIES PREMISE
Below Zero is a single-camera, 22-minute sitcom that explores the difficulties associated with entering adulthood in the modern day. Its protagonists, Derek Gray and Mark Rudd, graduate from University with high hopes and even higher student debt.  Told their whole lives that "an education" was the key to success in the adult world, they quickly find out just how useless this advice is. The series traces their various misadventures as they stumble blindly into adulthood, constantly reminded of their failures by their awful yet successful college friend Chad Luscombe.  In addition to nonexistent job prospects stemming from a dismal global economy, Mark and Derek are also up against the shittiness of a Montreal winter and their own inabilities to forge functional relationships with women. Flat broke and perpetually frustrated, they find solace in such creature comforts as alcohol, frozen pizzas, and board games designed for ages 8 & up.
Logline: It's a Cold World

With razor-sharp wit and an all-too-identifiable cast of characters, we hope to tap into the ever-growing market of overeducated and underemployed 20-somethings.  In essence, we wish to create a successful, modern-yet-'traditional' sitcom in the vein of Comedy Central's Workaholics or HBO's Girls, but with a distinctly Canadian voice to it.  (And no, when we say "Canadian" we don't mean "cheesy"). With our combined experiences in writing and performing comedy, we are confident in the eventual quality and success of our product; we just need a small initial investment to help make it a reality.  With your help, Below Zero may soon be coming to a T.V. screen near you!
