Update #2: But it is printed!

Posted on September 23, 2011

I suspect that my mailing list was simply not big enough for the job-- but thank you to all who backed me.

The good news is that I have gone ahead, borrowed the money and printed this publication!

It is available on my website at http://www.danielduvall.com/RockArtMarketplace.html

and on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Art-Imagery-Dominican-Republic/dp/9945164341/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316741550&sr=8-1

or at my booth in Inwood, NYC this weekend (bring an umbrella and waders) see--http://www.dnainfo.com/20110921/washington-heights-inwood/photographer-brings-dominican-cave-art-streets-of-northern-manhattan

Posted on July 31, 2011

The text for the book is written in English but a Spanish translation will be made available on my website. We finished the proofreading for the introduction today.

PS As of this posting the project is over 25% funded. THANKYOU backers, there are still about three weeks to go!!! Remember that if the final goal is not reached by the deadline nothing happens. To keep the ball rolling send this link to any friends and organizations who might be interested remembering that even just clicking on the LIKE button is a help.

All of the rewards from the $150 pledge plus an in-person slide show/lecture about my investigations into the rock art in the DR. Scheduling may be tricky with this one-- best to send me an email if you are thinking about a pledge of this size and we can figure out a good time and place. In this pledge range we can also arrange for me to bring you to a decorated cave in the DR for a guided tour. Choice of cave can be tailored to the backer's athletic ability. Transportation costs would be the responsibility of the backer.

There is a cave an hour drive from Santo Domingo that I know of but have not yet explored. There are at least several petroglyphs present near the entrance but what might be painted farther in is not known. I will hold off on investigating this cave until an interested backer at this level is able to join me and we can check it out together. No guarantee on discovering new art. Preliminary reconnaissance suggests that the cave is of substantial size and that advanced rope skills should not be needed. This would be a day trip from Santo Domingo. I will drive but cannot cover any other transportation expenses, we can split lunch and any rescue costs. Bring sturdy shoes and extra flashlight batteries. If this turned into a multi-day trip let's go for it! Three person guest limit.
