About this project

Dear Kickstarter,

Every good design starts with a substantial problem to solve and here is ours:

Smart phones break when dropped and they are dropped easily. Repair and replacement industry consumes huge amounts of energy and resources.

Some guys laugh at people who have dropped and damaged their phones by calling them “butter fingers” but they quickly go silent when the same happens to them. According to major iPhone warranty provider SquareTrade estimated 15.5% of iPhone 4 owners will have a broken glass accident within a year of buying their phone (full report here). This is one in every six people!

About this project

Few weeks ago a guy from our office entered the unfortunate 15.5% above by drowning his iPhone altogether with its protective case. He is a tough fellow, so the problem indeed is not “butter fingers” but the slickness of the phone design. It simply does not offer anything to catch to and it is easily slips off your hand. So, here is our proposal - a folding eyelet for a secure and intuitive one-finger hold. We called it 'Phinglet' (phone-finger-eyelet) and its unique advantage over other accessories is that it effectively prevents drop accidents by simply hooking to your finger. With its development Phinglet’s functionality expanded further to become also a kickstand and a tripod mount. The Phinglet works great with the naked iPhone 4/4S, but it also loves iPhones of all generations, protective cases and anything with a smooth back. If you have a bumper it is compatible with it too and fits in most pouches without a problem. We are especially proud that it is compatible with our other favorite Kickstarter projects which require naked iPhones like the Toast, Glif and Olloclip.

A better phone-hand-pocket relationship.

The Phinglet gets your iPhone ready for action in record time. It just makes for an elegant hold of your iPhone, with no over-grip, accidental touches or tension in your hand. It is easy to intuitively spot it in your pocket, bag or purse and it lets you pull it out quickly and effortlessly.

Like Wyatt Earp but no holster required.

Beyond the fun in holding you iPhone in a fund new way, the Phinglet make it feel very secure in your hand. In fact, it gives you such physical confidence that you will quickly start playing with your iPhone like a Wild West gunslinger would. In no time you will be turning people heads and getting curious sights with positive feedback.

The Phinglet & Wedge

The Case

With its companion accessory we call the Wedge, the Phinglet instantly turns into a variable angle iPhone stand. It works in both portrait and landscape orientation, so you can use your iPhone as anything from a night clock to a mini computer with a wireless keyboard. The Wedge also comes with a standard ¼”-20 camera mount tread, so you can easily attach your iPhone to a tripod and fully utilize its amazing video and time lapse capabilities.

I am sure that you will discover even more uses for the Phinglet once you have it in your hands. Please join our project by backing it and spreading the word about it and I guarantee your satisfaction. There is nothing like it.

Thanks a lot!

Yours,

Boris & the Phinglet Team @ Ignatov Architects

  • Yes, you can. We bet that once you try the Phinglet you will hardly part with it, but still if you want to have the option to put it on and off frequently it is better to attach it permanently to a case and just click your phone on and off it. • Just select one of the pledges you want, then combine the value of every other reward you want. International orders add only one shipping charge per every 5 rewards chosen provided that they ship to the same address.

We will send you a form when the funding is completed so you can reconfirm the exact combination and make sure everything is accurate.

    For example:

If you wanted 5x Phinglet& Wedge sets, you would select the $20 pledge level and enter $100 in the pledge amount.

If you wanted 2x Phinglet& Wedge sets and 3x Phinglets and were located in Europe, your pledge amount would be: 2x$20 + 3x$10 + $8 shipping = $78.
