I hope that you and yours were not unduly affected by our recent storm. Thankfully, the town of Shandaken was not hit too hard, and the property on which we hold our residency escaped with no damage.
As we approach the anniversary of the founding of the Shandaken Project, I can't help but marvel at all we've accomplished with YOUR support. In just one short year, we located and secured an incredible, 250-acre property for our residency program; built three private, gorgeous studios; harvested literally hundreds of pounds of food from our new garden; and most importantly, conducted our business ethically, being responsive to our community and making choices that reflect our core principle of supporting process and experimental or noncommercial work. The free residencies that we were fortunate enough to offer 16 fantastic artists, writers, dancers, and other creative individuals are just the beginning of the life of this organization. And it's thanks to you that we were able to start!
I am pleased to invite you to preview the DIY guide to building a Shandaken Project studio that you funded. It includes step-by-step photographs and instructions; a complete shopping list of tools and materials; and notes about what we learned during construction and while the buildings were in use over the season. You will find the guide here:
Thank you for making this guide and our buildings possible!
As we close out the year, we are making two important changes for you contributors. You have all received links to download the mix tapes you selected as thank you gifts. Please note that these links will remain active until November 30. Beyond this date you must email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the files. Additionally, this will be the last Kickstarter update you receive. If you did not choose to add yourself to our mailing list via the survey you completed for this campaign, and you would like to continue to receive news and updates, please visit shandakenproject.org/contact.html to sign up for our regular newsletter.
I hope that you will be able to join us in the coming months for the artist talks and other events that will take place in New York City in connection with the project.
Our deepest thanks for making a fantastic summer and bright future possible,
The Shandaken Project
