Hey everyone! It's true! We (The Matteo Four, that is) had our final listening-through session last night, and aside from a few last minute song-order changes (and a few "there's-too-much-reverb-right-there"s), it's really done! We're now finalizing our album art, and we're going to give it to the printer this coming week. As soon as we have copies, they'll be in the mail for you (or in our hands for you, if you live nearby).
We sincerely apologize if we disappointed any of you with this dragging-on of the record-making. I know some of you probably thought you'd have this album in July, and we're sorry we couldn't make that happen. We're not sorry, however, that we took our time with it. Rest assured - aside from some of the lyrics and vocals (which we decided purposefully to write and sing after we had some space from the whole experience), this album was very much written and recorded in Sichuan. You'll feel it, when you hear it. It feels spacious, wide-open, and yet very intimate. It feels like exploring a new and unexpected space. And it wrestles between the frenetic hustle and the deep-breath solitude, as honestly as we could represent that oscillation. At least, it feels that way to us :) we really hope it feels that way to you as well.
If we promised you other physical things (chopsticks, T-shirts, etc.) those will be delivered with the music. If we promised you other non-physical things (covers, songs, etc.), then we'll finally have the time to start making headway on them. They'll come ASAP.
If you have any other concerns, complaints, commands, or congratulations, let us know! We'd love to hear from you. And once more, thank you, from the bottom of our collective heart. We feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to make this record. Thank you.
