any word on final production and shipping?
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on May 13
@Shanna: Correct. (I knew I should have put the "Unreminder" in this latest update as well! Dangit.) We'll send out the survey once the games are physically in the shipping container on their way over.
Creator Shanna Norwood on May 13
There still has not been a 'backer survey' for this, correct? My address recently changed and I just wanted to make sure to get my kick'd projects updated!
Creator Jason Fordham on May 10
Good news, Arthur!!!
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on May 10
I should be posting an update tomorrow. I just got some photos of the "advance copy", which is expected to arrive in New Hampshire circa next Wednesday; they'll be part of the update. :)
Creator Jake Parks on May 10
Anything new this month?
Creator Grimnash on April 29
This is almost a year into it.
When are we actually going to receive this?
This project is past the point of reasonable waiting.
Creator Neil Day on April 7
Awesome...lets drive it on home :-)
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on April 7
Oh yeah. I was consciously trying not to post a serious update on April Fool's Day, and then it slipped my mind... but yes! http://twitpic.com/cgc96u http://twitpic.com/cgc92p The hard proof has arrived, prompting one tweak to the tuckbox cutlines and a couple of box-art fiddles, and now I believe the ball in back in Panda's court. I'll poke Game Salute and post an official update hopefully this week.
Creator Neil Day on April 7
Been almost a month since your last update? Did you receive the hard proofs? Now that it appears we're in the home stretch, can you give us an eta for an expected ship date?
Creator Neil Day on February 28
Been almost a month since your last update? Any further progress?
Creator Joshua Sauer on January 10
Just thought I'd check. I've got another opportunity to gift the extra copy I was hoping to give as a Christmas present coming up at the end of March. Any chance?
Creator Gregg on December 18, 2012
I appreciate the update. I totally get that sometimes communication can lapse due to all kinds of reasons. Good luck to you guys as you enter the final phases!
Creator Game Salute on December 18, 2012
Gregg...I've already promised to send status reports to Arthur on a weekly basis.
David, Springboard Administrator
Creator Gregg on December 18, 2012
Thanks for the update. I suggest bugging 'em weekly!
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on December 17, 2012
Update from Game Salute as of 15 minutes ago: The final PDF files apparently went to Panda (that's pandagm.com, the guys who own the factories) on December 11. As of 10 minutes ago, I've also seen these PDFs, and they look good — by which I mean they continue to look like what I've been showing in previous project updates, and I've double-checked that the most recent changes (e.g. that "reshuffle the discards" rule) did in fact make it into the final PDFs.
The dropbox of PDFs I saw didn't include the ADV550 expansion cards for some reason, but I guess Panda must have them or they'd have notified Game Salute already. More on that developing story next week, as Darrell is out of town.
Creator Gregg on December 17, 2012
Arthur,
Why don't you bang on the email addresses and Twitter feeds of these people, starting at the top with Dan, and see what's up? I'd like to think Dan would be interested to know if his employees are sliding:
http://gamesalute.squarespace.com/who/
And you could call his store and ask to speak to him:

Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on December 17, 2012
@Karl: Well, I've been posting an update every month; you know most of what I do.
When I signed the deal with Game Salute, I didn't realize how much the process would be taken out of my hands and how incommunicative they'd be. For the past six months or so it's been in pre-production, in the hands of Chris Kirkman (@dicehateme); as of December 4, it's been passed on to Darrell Louder (@getlouder) — and Chris sent a cryptic tweet implying that he's left the company. Darrell sent me a very brief message on Twitter the other day implying that the PDF files have been sent to Panda, but he still has not shown me those files nor given me his email address nor that of the Panda folks.
I definitely am not pleased with the Game Salute experience, and wouldn't recommend the route to anyone else on Kickstarter. But at this point we just have to soldier on, you know?
Creator Karl Zahler on December 16, 2012
Keep in touch with your backers. What is going on with the game. Better yet when will it ship. You knew when you where getting my money (first week in June) now I want to know when I'm getting my game.
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on September 20, 2012
@Joshua: Sorry, I'm betting March or April. Received wisdom is that it'll take another five months from the point that we send it to the factory, and we haven't done that yet. So, October-November-December-January–February is the best case at this point, and you know "best case" usually isn't the same as "actual case".
It's okay, you can blame me a little bit. I know it sucks. I did build in that "couple months leeway" on purpose, and yet we blew through it (and then some) with no particular "acts of God" to blame it on. Just real life getting in the way, and me not knowing what to expect from Game Salute.
Creator Joshua Sauer on September 20, 2012
Any idea HOW far past Christmas? A few weeks or a month or so and I could probably get away with "your present is a bit delayed". If we're talking March or April, that won't fly too well...
Creator Joshua Sauer on September 20, 2012
Well that truly bites. I don't blame you or anything, though I may not have bothered with a second copy had I known I wouldn't be able to give it as a Christmas gift. I figured with a projected date of October, a couple months leeway would be plenty. Guess I'll know better in future when it comes to Kickstarter projects. :-(
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on September 20, 2012
Sorry, Joshua, it's slipped past Christmas by now. :( I've been leaving too much of the pre-production up to the Game Salute guys, who I guess don't have the same sense of urgency that I did back in May. On the plus side it's getting professional attention *and* I'm not losing thousands of dollars on the project. On the down side, it's looking more like Easter than Christmas at this point.
Re treasure artwork: nope, the cards still look basically the same as ever. "Flavor art" on all the cards, unique artwork on the ADV550 Location cards, but no unique art on the treasure cards. That verdict is final (which is at least better news than if it *weren't* final by now, right?).
Creator Jake Parks on September 20, 2012
Any word?
Creator Joshua Sauer on September 20, 2012
I won't mind if it slips a bit in the service of a quality product, but I would like to have it by Christmas. One of my copies is earmarked as a Christmas gift. :-)
Just out of curiosity, do we have a final word yet on whether the Treasure art is going to make it on to the cards at all? I know that that was not seeming practical, but I also recall hearing that the Springboard folks were pushing for it. Is there a final verdict on that score?
Creator Gregg on September 16, 2012
Any word as we approach October?
Creator Joshua Sauer on July 25, 2012
So, how's this coming along? Haven't been any designer diary entries for a while. I liked those.
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on July 11, 2012
@Joshua, @NYKevin: I PM'ed Joshua not long after he left that comment, and he told me that it had mysteriously fixed itself. I guess I forgot to come back here and comment to that effect, though.
Yes, my ports use Parchment. (Tech dump: My ports use Parchment. And the Z-machine. And even the Inform compiler! What they *don't* use is the default Inform standard library, with its parser and responses. And at the Z-machine level, everything in my code is scalar variables and arrays: there are absolutely no "objects" in the Z-machine sense.)
Creator NYKevin on July 11, 2012
@Joshua: Parchment supports[1] IE 8... Not sure if Arthur's actually using Parchment, however.
[1] http://code.google.com/p/parchment/
Creator Joshua Sauer on June 22, 2012
Is my browser just too old, or are the links to play your ports not working? I go there and click "Play in Browser" and nothing happens. I've got IE 8 here at work.
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on June 15, 2012
@Joshua: Yeah, once Entity325's original comment got deleted, I went ahead and flagged the whole conversation thread as spam. I have no idea how KS's spam-filtering system works, whether it's a person or a vote-threshold or what, but anyway, that conversation's not relevant to CC:TBG, feel free to take it elsewhere. ;)
Creator Joshua Sauer on June 15, 2012
Odd, my last comments seem to have been deleted. Strange that my comments would be deleted, but Entity325s would not. Ah well, no point in reposting. It wasn't really important.

I'm not upset about the lack of updates on the Printrbot project. I actually think there has been plenty of information provided by the project managers. Delays are normal, especially when demand ends up being about 4000% of what was expected.
I'm upset about the people who ARE upset about the lack of updates. THOSE are the people I don't want to be associated with, and the ones who I don't want to be associated with.
I simply concluded the best way of getting what I want was to make as much noise as possible. Either Kickstarter will crack down on their unruly userbase, or they will have to close shop. Either way, I win.

"At this point" meaning "June". If you're one of the people who messaged me like four weeks ago and I took your money and/or promised you things, don't worry, you're still getting those things, as long as you remind me when I seem in danger of forgetting. :)
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on June 12, 2012
FYI, I've added a new FAQ on the main page...
Q.) Now that the Kickstarter is over, can I still increase my pledge to get additional copies?
A.) At this point the Kickstarter reward prices are closed (including the $5 expansions). But when we send out the backer surveys in October, we'll include a way for you to order additional copies of "Colossal Cave" and the ADV550 expansion at MSRP, whatever that turns out to be. In fact we'll *probably* include a way to order any Game Salute products at all, since your Kickstarter reward is basically the same thing as a prepaid order with shop.gamesalute.com. That way you should be able to avoid paying twice for shipping.
Creator Gordon Griffith on June 12, 2012
The new board art work is gorgeous. good job.
I am really looking forward to gettng and playing this game.
This game takes to back to Zorg. Did I just date myself?
Any Big Bang fans notice that Sheldon was playing Zorg on one of the BB episodes?
Creator Joshua Sauer on May 23, 2012
So, out of curiosity, about how long before you have to finalize everything and send this to production if you wanted to have it ready in time for holiday giving?
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on May 19, 2012
@Harrison: Well, there are pluses and minuses to doubly-linking all interactions. The most obvious minus is that sometimes there's not room on the card for all that text. The minus that's at the top of my mind is that if you doubly-link all interactions, you remove the possibility of adding new cards that interact with the old ones. For example, one of the promo cards in the $30 level is "Fresh Batteries", which defends against "Your Lamp Is Getting Dim". You can play with or without this card; the game works just as well either way. But suppose every action card listed the item(s) that defend against it; suddenly Fresh Batteries would have to pick a side: in or out of the game.
Admittedly "convenience of making up promo cards" isn't a really great excuse. The same argument applies to the expansion, too; but off the top of my head I don't think I actually added any cards in ADV550 that defend against base-game cards. (Hmm. I should do that!) However, the expansion does double the number of Magic Words, increase the number of treasures affected by "Never Existed", and so on.
Anyway, I see your point and have thought a lot about it, but it's not a clear win for either side.
Creator Harrison Carter on May 19, 2012
@Arthur O'Dwyer: The designer diary entry "Know Your Items: Iron Keys" mentions that the Iron Keys card enables the Golden Chain card to be played -- shouldn't the Iron Keys card have some text saying so? For each pair of cards that interact both cards should at least mention the interaction. This helps players to better decide the value of each card in their hands.
And glad to see your project is funded. Congrats!
Creator Joshua Sauer on May 18, 2012
OK, but if it DOESN'T make that, I expect the eclipse to be called off... ;-)
Creator Arthur O'Dwyer on May 18, 2012
@Joshua: $13,000 seems too likely to even bother stretching for. However, if we reach **$15,000** by the time the campaign closes on Saturday night, as a special bonus to our backers, I will cause the life-giving rays of the sun to be blotted out for several minutes on Sunday. (Offer good only in Japan, the North Pacific, and the western part of North America. Apologies to our many British backers.)
Creator James Cartwright on May 18, 2012
Cool! USB stick goal reached :o)
Creator Joshua Sauer on May 18, 2012
Thanks, Jake! And with 34 hours to go, still. Wonder where this will end up...
Creator Jake Parks on May 18, 2012
I decided to go ahead and up my pledge to push us over ;)
Creator Joshua Sauer on May 18, 2012
So, any thoughts on a $13,000 stretch goal? (I'm mostly kidding, since I don't have one to suggest, but it IS starting to look like it will get to that level.)
Creator Joshua Sauer on May 18, 2012
Cool! That's even better than I expected. Glad to know my brother-in-law will be getting one with his copy. If it was one per backer, I'd be keeping it. ;-)
