Cross Kentucky is making a new record!! We just need you -- our friends and fans -- to help us out a 'lil bit...
In August 2012, Cross Kentucky will be heading into producer Mark Williams' Bethesda, MD studios to record our first album. We couldn't be more excited about this -- we're finally getting a chance to record some of our favorite songs, as well as some new tracks. This will be a full-length, full-band record -- and it's been a long time coming.
Here's a little back story. Cross Kentucky, the band, is the fulfillment of a desire by singer/songwriter/saxophonist Ken Francis Wenzel to meld different musical sides of himself -- the saxophone, the guitar, the voice, and the song --together into one unit. Ken met guitarist Dan Rebeiz in the spring of 2011 and, after playing select shows together for a little over a year, rounded out the group with bassist Ethan Foote, drummer Ben Tufts, and pedal steel player Bobby Birdsong. It's been a bit of a journey, but here we are -- and we're finally ready to make a record.
This is where Kickstarter, and hopefully, you -- come in. See, making a record is expensive, even in this day and age. Studio time, extra musicians, recording engineers, mixing, mastering, CD manufacture -- not to mention promotion, PR, and other post-release expenses -- all must be paid for by us. And although we're putting some of our own money behind the record as well, we do need some additional financial support to help us complete this record and bring these songs out into the world. Kickstarter is the perfect platform with which to accomplish that. It's an incentive based donation site, meaning individuals can donate as little or as much as they'd like to, based on the items they would like to receive.
And what a batch of rewards they are!! Please read them over, and know that any amount, whether $5 or $1500, is greatly appreciated and is an indispensable part of bringing this record to life. For our part, we can't wait to start fulfilling our pledges to you... new songs, acoustic performances, lessons, house concerts -- yes, please!!
