What do you do when God and the devil destroy your life to settle a bet? You get even!

Written and illustrated by Bridgette Egan, "JOB" is a classic story of betrayal and redemption, good and evil, and what the hell those things actually mean. "JOB" follows the universal fallout following a bet made between God and the Devil. The subject of the wager? Seventeen year old school girl, Job Freewell. God gives the Devil a year, and any means necessary, to try and corrupt his favorite and most pious creation.

Placed in the Devil's hands, Job's life disintegrates, and within hours, she's homeless, alone, heart broken, and wanted for murder. Her only chance to make sense of everything is to escape to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she begins life living off the grid and on the street. There she befriends a group of anarchist vagabond youths who join her adventures, one of which may secretly turn out to be a 3000 year old angel.

After a series of strange occurances and a run in with a few famous dead people, Job finally becomes wise to the creator's games. Unimpressed with God's flippant use of her life, she sets out to get back at heaven for betraying her, and this time, God had better be looking over his shoulder. JOB is a story of the strength of faith, not in God or religion, but in people, and the in the power of love and the freedom of the human spirit.

The first issue of Job has been completed, and ready to be printed as soon as funding is available. It is twenty beautifully colored pages with a glossy cover, stapled with love. I've been working on the first story arc of JOB for about three years now, and until now, it has been completely self-funded and self-created, but even I can't do everything. That's where you come in.

Your donation will help to print the first 20-page color issue of JOB on industry standard matte paper with a glossy color cover, as well as defray the cost of some promotional materials that, as a backer, you will love: t-shirts, posters, buttons, and limited-edition art.

By helping to print this comic book, even with just a tenny-weeny $1 donation, you will automatically receive pdf copies of the first issue before it even comes out: way worth it, right? Donations of $20 or more have even greater more awesome rewards that can be checked out on the side of this page.

FAQ

  • Unfortunately, no. JOB contains adult realities like drug-use, sexuality, and strong language.

  • Nope. It's not anti-Christian either. Job is a supernatural comic and God, the Devil, and Jesus are just some of the supernatural creatures that Job runs into during her travels. Rather than take a stance on religion, "JOB" focuses on the importance of intellectual and spiritual freedom, and the choice to be who you are, rather than what people want you to be.
