About this project
What:
Traffic is an important film to be made. It deals with a controversial subject and visualizes the background story of a headline which is usually dramatically portrayed in the news or technically summarized in the newspapers. Modern life repeats itself and therefore it should be examined thoroughly to make clear that there is no such parent that forgets the child deliberately but that there are influences, stress symptoms such as burn out, a moment of absence and the pressures of modern life.
It suggests a realistic and profane explanation rather than motive for happenings as shocking as a child suffocating in the car, an employee committing suicide due to bad work conditions or a teenager massacring his teachers and fellow students at school
I’m very keen on making this film as I regard it as mean to awake the awareness. It should be a film that guides one through an experience to that every average person can relate to. Every person that works hard to sustain his existential base.
I managed to assemble a talented cast and crew in the NL and in Thessaloniki in Greece by leading intense talks with potential actors. The main actress will be Stella Ermi, a talented actress that has gathered her experience in multiple theatre plays, commericals and short-film shoots.

The story is driven by Marie's objective to attend a professional meeting, a profane motivation that
guides her through unforeseen encounters and situations. We follow every step of hers and get to
experience a sequence of events.
Her job, the meeting, becomes the drive and tool to display the route of her day which is filled with
obstacles. Marie encounters her father as she picks him up from the hospital. She was oblivious to
that her father has been in treatment for a longer period. Here the father becomes a reminder of
what is supposed to be important in Marie's life. Paul, her very recent ex, is never appearing but still
present in Marie's routine and adds to her emotional imbalance.
The events that Marie’s trying to control become unmanageable due to her professional and private
charges which seem incompatible.
The story urges one to focus on Marie's broken routine and the symptom that we come to observe is
her forgetfulness which clearly becomes the primary thread of the story. The car and the street
traffic are the secondary narrative tool that navigates through “traffic”. It takes on a realistic but also
symbolic function. Marie spends a lot of time in it, the traffic Marie is moving in through the story
is composed of cars, and finally a car becomes the stage for the closing of the story(the dead child in the car) -
The street traffic is a very important factor. It is her constant companion and flashes by her eyes and
seems to even hypnotize her at times into the stage of mental absence. The car is also the vehicle of
the story within this traffic which is also introduced as an allegory to life. I want to create a setting
as in the scene where Marie has to leave her car behind and keeps walking on the safety lane next to
the traffic. The image should be equally devided between Marie and the traffic to underline that
she's still trying to keep up with traffic despite her emotional disparity. -

Leonardo Cariglino was born in Germany by Korb close to Stuttgart. He is of greek-italian
origin and enrolled in cross cultural studies in Germany.
After moving to Amsterdam he studied film/digital film making in 2007 at the SAE Film
Institute. In his studies he happened to work with director Karim Traidia(winner golden
palm for “the polish bride”) on several projects in pre-production and on set. Also Mark Van
Aardenburg (microcredits) from Movietron and Tarek Tarek from Image-grabbing became
valuable partners and important connections for his development.
His last production "Because you love me, I don't need you" has been accepted at the NYIFF in LA and in several festivals in Europe, link to the film
