Here’s what we say to kids:

“Don’t do drugs”
“Don’t get into gangs”
“Blah-blah-blah”

… but we never give them an alternative.

Freestyle Jam Camp is just that alternative.

What is Freestyle Jam Camp?

Freestyle Jam Camp is a weekend program that promotes creativity, cooperation, good health, and sportsmanship through frisbee disc instruction.

On Saturday and Sunday (January 2nd & 3rd, 2010) kids in Los Angeles will be able to attend this annual frisbee skills camp.

To make this happen I’ve gathered together a team of (my friends who happen to be) world class freestyle champions and professional experts who want to teach their frisbee skills to others.

They will be covering everything from the basic fundamental skills all the way up to the skills used at the professional/competitive level. Note that no previous frisbee skills are required.

This camp is going to happen, and it is now the third consecutive year in a row that we are having this camp. My goal for this year is to create a larger frisbee community and give kids in Los Angeles an opportunity to learn about a sport that can give them life long skills and benefits.

The kids will be paying their own way; but of course their registration fee is next to nothing (because it really doesn’t cost that much more to teach the kids these skills).

Your kind contribution will be used exclusively to buy frisbee discs so that the kids won’t go home empty handed – because of your generosity, they’ll be able to go home and practice frisbee instead of doing drugs, joining a gang, or any of the other stuff we keep telling kids not to do…

So, if you’re going to be in the Los Angeles area on January 2nd & 3rd, please stop by and see what this is all about - or even better yet, register and participate in the camp yourself!

However, if you can’t do either of those things, please consider making a donation so that I can afford to send the kids home with a couple of frisbee discs so that they start the year off right…

…after all, Freestyle Jam Camp is a whole lot better than any of the other alternatives which we tell them not to do:

“Don’t do…”

I began playing frisbee in 1972. Since then and because of frisbee I've met special people, traveled to far away places, and have really been enjoying life playing frisbee with my friends.

A few years ago I decided to start Freestyle Jam Camp so that I could learn to become a better freestyler (advanced throwing and catching; trick moves) and I thought that others might want to learn, too.

It might have begun with an idea from me but the truth is that Freesytle Jam Camp cannot come to life without the help and support of so many people.
