Update #3: Thank you!

Posted on September 10, 2011

The project was completed successfully! All of your support was amazing, I could not have done it without you.

There are some tweaks that need to be made but I am looking for venues to show this incredible sculpture. I will keep you posted on its status.  Also, rewards will start going out at the end of the month so if you have special requests (where requests can be made) please send them to me ASAP. Again, thank you!

Update #2: The Neighbor

Posted on August 22, 2011

My neighbor has been watching the progress on a daily basis.  He was nice enough to let me borrow his sanding block.  He insisted it would go faster than the electric hand sander and it would be more QUIET. ha! This older gentleman sleeps for half the day in his plastic lawn chair, I guess I may have been disturbing him. After further tips from the cabinet maker, he informed me that speaker making/light electrical work was his hobby.  How crazy is it that I am working on this project and he specialized in exactly what I am doing.  I must get his name. Another thing he said was, "You should get back to work. You have a lot more to do."

The cross is moving right along smoothly. We have made a few design changes which makes the cross floor-standing.  This will allow us to have more space for all the "guts" plus is will be safer on floor. In the future, we now know how to make it hang on the wall but for now it is on the floor. We are  learning as we go.

Speaker placement has started as well as all the holes are cut for the lights. Thanks to Kimberlie for her mathematical genius. She had to help me with the light placement. Too many equations for me. Love her! Today I hope to have the base completed and all the speakers painted.

Update #1: Construction has begun!

Posted on August 11, 2011
We have started the construction and things are moving right along. It was a long day in the sun but Anthony and I enjoyed it. Loud music and a friendly visit from my neighbor who is a retired cabinet maker made it exciting. We also got some good news about the neon. We will be saving about $300 with a quote of $480. Whew!
