THE PROJECT
On June 25, the anniversary weekend of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s death, members of Checkmate Studios were tipped off about some rather disturbing occurrences in the Washington, DC area. So, naturally, we grabbed our cameras and went out with hopes that we would capture some of it. What we saw was… Well, it redefines everything we thought about the afterlife, and only further confirms the irony of it happening during that special weekend.
Not long after we caught some of this stuff on tape, we started getting phone calls, texts, and emails from other folks saying that they’d been seeing some similar stuff where they were. So we decided to put up a website, sorta like a portal, where they could upload and share their videos: www.thedancingdead.com. We received so many videos that we had to shut the site down for fear that our server would crash. As we were looking through the submissions, we noticed one very strange thing about those videos: all of them came from cities along the east coast. Right then, we knew that what we had would make an incredible movie!
THE GOAL
Our goal is to have the world see what we saw, which is why we need major distribution. But we first want to show you. We need you to pledge your support, big or small, so that we will be able to accomplish this goal and launch our internet marketing campaign in September 2010. The goal is $5000. IF WE COME UP A PENNY SHORT, THEN WE WON’T GET ANY OF THE PLEDGE MONEY. With this money we will be able to prove once and for all the evolution of the dead.

Denton Adams [director, producer, writer] is the founder of Checkmate Studios, LLC, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he received his BFA in Film. He has directed two independent feature films, and several shorts and continues to produce films that focus on: the human condition, spirituality, diversity, and morality among many other subject matters.
