About this project
After a lifetime in fashion, Remy is launching her namesake womenswear brand and bridge line of denim and tees, inspired by the incredible lives and stories of women everywhere. She needs funding to purchase fabrics complete samples, stage photoshoots, and create an investor package to secure financial backing by January first.
UPDATE DECEMBER 7--Hi, Remy again! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! We just crossed our funding minimum-- the 10,000 mark! to celebrate, I'm releasing a behind the scenes look at our RH denim shoot with Roman Cho on nov. 6th featuring Lydia Hearst, Mynxii White, and more gorgeous girls getting crazy in front of the camera.
If we work hard these next few days, we can get to 15,000-- enough to move into a brick and mortar space and really get this thing moving!!!!! Please consider contributing to one of our AWESOME reward levels-- seriously guys, the jeans are amazing! Take a look at the new video, some of the great photos further below, share this kickstarter or contribute funding at ANY level, and help me launch my dream, employ LA sewers, and make fashion happen for everyone. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!! I AM HUMBLED AND AMAZED BY YOU ALL!!!!! xoxo Remy
UPDATE-- hi everybody! It's Remy :) we are almost at the halfway mark and in the month that we have been running our pledge drive here, things have really been AMAZING! We've staged a huge photoshoot with sixteen models(I've posted sneak peeks of some of the images below), taken orders from boutiques located anywhere from Hawaii to NYC, gotten some blog love, and this week, we are working on getting a video out to really show you inside what we've been doing!

I've also designed all the denim looks for my line through the end of 2012. PHEW!
We wouldn't have the motivation that we do if we weren't seeing the kickstarter numbers... working on stuff like this is a lot of lonely hours staring at fabric swatches and fiddling in adobe illustrator and at the drafting table.. it's SUCH an honor to see that we're reaching people and they're finding our project worthy of their help! THANK YOU!!!!
We now return you to your regularly-scheduled fund drive....Remy has a lifetime of experience creating in the fashion industry. She was also a fashion model and has been the face of several top brands. She has created custom looks for musicians, actors, and conceptual projects. Along with a business partner, an accomplished fashion industry exec, Remy is set to launch the first european-style artistic luxury apparel brand based out of, and manufactured, in Los Angeles.

Conceptual look for Work Magazine 2010
We need to fund sampling for jeans, tees, and dresses, stage a photo shoot in LA between now and dec. 31, and travel to the east coast to pitch investors our proposal.
About the collection:
Looking at the biggest fashion names of the last century, a pattern emerges of signature pieces defining the brands. For instance, the same woman who loved a YSL le smoking or a classic Chanel tweed when she was 20 still feels cool in the jacket, whether it is her classic or a new purchase, now that she is 60.
Remy aims to create "new classics": the pieces that, while never the flavor of the season, make the 20 year old look sensational and age with the wearer to the point that when she is 60, she still owns either her original or her 10th iteration of. Remy Holwick collection aims to be the anti-fad, and believes that any woman who lives 80 years deserves fashion with the same longevity and respectability.
About the denim bridge line

RH denim sees the denim market as saturated with "blue jeans". Our aim is to produce one neutral bottom, in black, completely plain and with minimal branding, producing an iconic silhouette like nothing on the market. Our pants close in the back, leaving a flat, neutral, uncluttered front. RH believes this neutral piece allows a woman to dress herself over this foundation garment however she pleases-- every woman has an amazing story.
It is our privilege to serve the women who wear RH as they live their stories.
This is a fresh approach to denim, and gives the wearer a newfound freedom of expression: the same neutral black silhouette can look conservative and business appropriate when paired with jewelry and a blouse, punk with a ratty tee and boots, high-end when paired with a statement blazer, and so on. RH believes that giving the wearer the freedom of self expression is the ultimate expression of our brand. We want women to be able to live their stories, aided by what they wear.
About our viral ads and lookbook:

We have advertised this denim project and kickstarter fundraiser in part with a viral ad campagin featuring real women, telling their stories in RH denim. The women, aged 17-60, all wear the same iconic cut of denim, and have told their stories in their own handwriting over images shot by Roman Cho. 30 people contributed countless hours to make this happen, and we are particularly grateful to Roman Cho, Candice Birns, Bethany McCarthy, and all the women who agreed to bare their souls for our denim.

Connected as Remy Holwick (1036 friends)
Remy Holwick learned to sew at age three, and by age five was drafting patterns for dolls and neighborhood kids. She attended Reed College, where she learned formal drafting and construction for clothing and costume. She went on to New York, where she became a model for Calvin Klein, Georgio Armani, and others, and became known for her singular style, but ultimately decided that she loved the construction of the clothes more than being the face of the brands. In 2005, she took a position in ready-to-wear design in los angeles, and has spent the interim learning and making contacts across the industry. After almost a decade of designing professionally for many national and international brands, she has decided to launch her own company, along with a business partner with thirty years in the apparel industry, and support and consulting from industry vets.
