Update #1: We Did It!
We're making a record, and it could not have happened with you! From the bottom of our hearts, we can not thank you backers enough. You believe in our project and that is the most inspiring and humbling feeling for us. But you may be wondering, "What happens now?" Great question. Here's the answer:
Backer Surveys:
Be on the lookout in the next day or so for a "backer survey" in your email inbox. Depending on what reward you selected and how much you gave, you'll have options to tell us exactly what we need to get to you. This will help us keep everything organized and get the information from you that we need to make the rewards happen. We're going to do our best to keep you posted on the status of things and get you your goodies as quickly as possible. Some items will take longer than others, but you will be getting everything you paid for over the course of the next few months.
Making the Record:
Now that we are funded, we're going to hit the ground running. I've already been in touch with the producer and pre-production starts this coming week! That means that within two weeks, we'll be in the studio making things happen. Recording will be roughly a seven week process, with the possibility for some things to take longer. We'll be sure to keep you posted on how the recording process is going so you won't have to wonder about it. Timelines for these things are never definite, but the producer and I have made a schedule that puts the official record release in August of this year. For most of you guys however, you'll be getting it up to two months earlier! If at any point it looks like we are moving slower or faster than that I will let you know. Above all, we want this to be something that we are all thrilled with when we get it in our hands and listen to it. So we're going to spend the time to make sure that happens.

A DATE WITH THE BAND - dinner and a night out with us - This one has some stipulations though and is NOT PART OF THE CHAIN OF REWARDS. So if you buy this reward, we'll be sure you also get a digital download of the record, but you are not entitled to the rest and must specify that this is the reward you want. You've gotta be willing to come to Athens, and you've gotta like to have fun. But we'll foot the bill for the date cause we're old fashioned.

We’ll come do a show at your house (within 200 miles of Athens, Georgia or within 20 miles of city on tour pending tour schedule conflict). Free admission for you and all of your friends. We’ll hang out and talk after. We’re fun, we swear.

Play something on the actual record. This is the only reward that get's you in the studio and physically making sounds that will go on the record. Don't play music? Let's hope you can clap or something. This is not included in the chain of rewards, and is a limited offer. You also have to get to the studio in Feb/March to make it happen, but you'll be able to hear yourself forever and ever.

John independently released his first solo full-length album in May of 2010 with extremely positive reception. Shortly thereafter John combined the musical talents of Josh DeRamus (drums), Kevin Justmann (bass), Wes Kent (electric guitar), and Rebecca Cash (backup vocals/banjo) to give the same power live that is present on the record. John French and the Bastilles were born. In a very short amount of time the band began to play all over the southeast, generating interest and excitement about their music wherever they went. John French and the Bastilles combine powerful acoustic sounds with raw and real energy to create a dynamic music experience. They combine old Folk sounds with modern arrangements that allow their music to be rich, real, and moving.
