Introduction:

Emperor's Forge is a massive online, dynamic, always evolving multiplayer game, set in a medieval fantasy world where anything will be possible. Hello I'm Gretchen; games are what inspired me into programming more than 10 years ago. Emperor's Forge is the blending of all the experience I have gathered over the years as a gamer into one single title.
 
The game is centered in a fantasy-medieval environment where the emperor throne has been left empty with no heir and open for anyone to take.  The ultimate goal of any player in Emperor's Forge is to become powerful enough to fight for the throne, become the emperor/empress, and hold the throne for as long as your forces and resources allows it. As you grow in the game (that is acquiring nobility titles, wealth and skills) the first Big step in your career is to become the city's Viceroy/Vicereine by been the first noble to reach the title or challenging the existing Viceroy and winning the battle. Every city will be populated with a maximum of 50 players where they all compete for the Viceroy title to lead the city. 
 
The second big step of your career, beyond a city supreme ruler is becoming the king of your country (county) which makes your home city the capital of the county, these can be achieve if all viceroys in your county vote for you as their king. Of course, everyone wants to be the king, but if you are strong enough, after one or two battles and with the help of your friends in your home city, you'll be able to persuade other cities to favor you.

The last step in your entire career will be the Emperor's Throne, for that there is no voting system to help you or weak enemy. You must slay the existing emperor and his/her supporters.

Update #10: Tribute to all our wonderful friends!

Update #7 and 9: Starting to work on the house interior functionality, i.e. furniture interaction, going to sleep, the world globe and a quick way to travel to other cities – countries, your private office where you can study your spells, write new spells, your chemistry lab for your potion mixing, enhancing and much, more.

Update #8: We have been working hard on getting these characters to send you back to your home or spawn point for the homeless player :) The hardest part of AI is not really the fighting part though; path finding and obstacle avoidance is what really has kept me up late more than usual.

Emperor's Forge Nobility:

Each nobility rank requires a number of nobility experience points. The way to earn those points is by completing regular quests assigned to you every day on behalf of your home city and performing any of the game regular activities like:

1:  Improving your social skills by making new friends in your city or through the world.
2:  Generating wealth by crafting items, potions spells and trading them for gold or other items.
3:  Finding gold coins or bars, gems and other precious items around the world.
4:  Hiring soldiers for the city army (any soldier you hire is part of your personal army and cannot be used in a battle without your consent).
5:  Freeing your city from the occasional dragon, troll and other monsters that inhabits the lands etc.

Every new nobility title opens new features of the game like been able to buy a private room, house, tavern  a spot in the street market and trade with all players in the empire. Other perks you can obtain with higher nobility titles: The ability to hire one or more a maids, shop worker, soldiers and much more.

What Contributors Get:

Contributors (based on the clamed perk) get to download the game to any of the available device, they will be notified of new builds and play as it’s been developed, no need to wait for weeks or month, there will be a developer build published for our contributors every week where they can play the game with the latest additions and features. You will be able to suggest your idea or even a bug and see it in your next week update. Alpha and Beta contributors will need to wait just a little longer than DEV contributors who are able to play the game right now.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

We hope to meet all deadlines, at the same time with enough support we will get to hire all the necessary server power to host the most powerful and ever evolving massive online environment you will get to play on. Emperor's Forge will evolve with your input and help as well therefore not all characteristics of the developer release will remain the same (generally better) once the beta comes out. The same will happen between beta and full release.

  • We are using Unity Game Engine 4, this game engine is great for RAD and we feel confident is the best option in the industry today.

  • There is a model we love and think it will be the most successful, we are thinking on selling in-game items and special powers as a way to monetize the game and maintain the cost of servers, internet and all the expenses. These will be none-required to play the game items but certainly, nice to have things. Also, these game will be an always in-development game meaning, we will constantly be upgrading, adding, making it better and plan to come back to kickstarter and raise enough founds to continue improving the game, adding new world landscapes, cities, characters features and much more.

  • Absolutely not, we plan on hiring a UI designer to improve the user interface, some we will keep due to the fact that is tightly coupled with code we have already written.

  • 1.        We plan primarily on hiring three graphic designers for a minimum of 3 month (or more if the budget allows it) to generate the rest of the cities content, new characters, downloadable content like different armor sets for each character, blades, bows, cloth and much more.  There is a lot of work to do; creating a massive online, graphics reach virtual world is a big task for only two programmers who are wearing besides their programmer hats, DBA and Graphic Designer hats.

     

    2.       We plan to startup with a minimum of 10 decent virtual servers strategically hosted in the US, UK and Asia for at least one year.

     

    3.       Software, we still need to buy the iOS Pro, and Android Pro unity license, Autodesk 3ds Max Entertainment Creation Suite Standard 2013, and Photoshop CS6

     

    4.       Hardware: currently we have 1 Mac Pro and two PC’s, two iPhones (one iPhone 4 and one iPhone 4s) and one iPad 2, for our designers when hired we will need 3 Cintiq 12WX, One Mac Pro and two iMacs. For QA we will need one iPhone 5, one iPad Retina and one iPad mini and one Samsung Galaxy S III
