Old-Time meets New-Time meets Christmas-Time.
On December 24, 2011, Judith Avers, Emily Pinkerton and Ellen Gozion performed together for the first time at a late-night Christmas Eve service featuring American folk music. Throughout rehearsals, the songs fell in to place in an easy and gratifying way, and the service itself was magical. All three women felt it should not be the last concert.
Believing in their unique potential as a trio, firm friendships began to form and “The Early Mays” (a name drawn from a character in one of Judith’s songs) jumped into their first project: a Christmas recording!!
In the sweltering heat of July and August 2012, late at night in the sanctuary of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh, the ladies gathered to make live stereo recordings of their sessions. Starting out with the idea of making a record of Appalachian music, they quickly began arranging and writing their own wintry songs, inspired by American folk traditions, personal events, poetry, and each other. The “Christmas Sessions” were born.
The Early Mays have recorded their Christmas CD, but now it is time for the behind-the-scenes magic. That's where you come in!
We are hoping to raise at least $1800 with this Kickstarter Project.
If you are interested in being a part of this project, your financial gift will go toward covering these expenses:
Mixing/Mastering - putting the final shiny touches on our recording to get it radio and listener ready!
Final engineering costs - we have a few hours of "touch ups" to do at the church.
Production/replication - ho ho ho!! We need to get these lovely stocking stuffers printed and ready for delivery. : )

Our CD Release is scheduled for December 1st. This is a pretty tight crunch for the band in regards to timing, mixing, and production but we have a clear outline in place and have divided tasks in a fair way and are confident that everything will be finished up and mailed out on time.
