I'm the founder of Zeboyd Games - a 3 person indie team dedicated to making quality RPGs. I design, program, and write the stories for our games. I'm 30 years old, happily married and have 4 beautiful daughters.
So I'm casually checking my e-mail, and I see something from Desura. "You have received a game". Had redeemed the Frozen Synapse code on there earlier, but this still seemed odd, so I clicked it.
"Zeboyd has sent you a copy of their game:"
Holy crap. Thank you, Boyd. Or Rob? Roboyd? Do you mind that, 'cause that sounds kinda cool. Maybe like an amazing mechanical man.
I know I'm being a tightwad here, but now that it's on Desura, could the $24+ backers get a code for that platform?
Thats wonderful news! How much is the steam pricing going to be? I am getting a copy for funding, but I still intend to buy myself the steam copy as well as buying copies for friends.
Congratulation!!!! Well done all!! :D
Ah, wasn't cool enough to be last-minute, but at least I'm in the Bottom 3! Here's to a good game made great(er)!
Now, back to Breath of Death VII (I'll beat that first, and follow up with CStW; maybe play Molly, too, after finally checking it out).
Agreed, can't wait to play this on PC
Woo! Congrats to Zeboyd for managing to raise almost $4000 more than they asked for, and thanks to all 163 of my fellow backers who helped spare me from the expense of needing to buy an X360.
Yes it is funded. Now to wait for my game and upcoming insanity.
Yay for a PC version! Now I can take it with me when I travel.
Double the money, double the content right.
Thank you for porting this to the PC
Cthulhu kicked ass! As did breath of Death! I'm happy to pledge and hope you keep making games like these. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations and good luck with your goal of full-time game development. BoD7 was the first indie XBLA game I purchased and I've been in love ever since. Glad to be a part of your fund raising project.
Cant stop listening to the soundtrack!! So joyful!
Unfortunately I will never be able to play the game and listen to the awesome music that accompanies it...i'm on a Mac...and own a PS3...
Nevertheless I am backing this up...and definitely installing it on my girlfriend's laptop when it comes out :)
Keep up the good work!!!
I know you've already reached your goal, but after all the fun I've had with your first game when I get paid on the 3rd, I'm definitely adding $25 to the pot just to help out with future games.
iOS is good ... I'd still pledge.
We're in talks with Valve about putting it on Steam. So far, it's been going very well so a Steam version is almost guaranteed.
As for a Mac version, having owned DOS/Windows-based PCs all my life, I scarcely know how to use a Mac, much less program one. So not only would we have to buy the appropriate equipment and software, I'd have to learn how to program for a Mac, and we'd have to completely rewrite the entire game code (whereas with a PC port, we just need to modify our existing code). If we were going to go to all that work, we'd make an iPhone version, not a Mac version.
A release on Steam would be fantastic! But I'm sure there's other licensing fees for that.
How much "surplus" money would you need to raise to add a MacOS port to the mix?
Do that, and you'll have a pledge from me, too!
Three days from the first backer to full coverage. Not even, really. I already have the Xbox download, so I've got a question: how will this new PC version be delivered? Now that there's a bonus copy on the line, I'd like to gift it to someone if possible.
Well, that was fast!
just pledged after buying the game, looking forward to the pc version.
Such a great cause, I'm all for it. Way to go guys, glad to help out.
The weird thing is, within the past year, I've made a pledge to myself to no longer pay full price for games (it's too expensive for me and I just don't get around to them), yet I've now paid $53 for Cthulhu Saves the World and I have no problem with that.
Actually, since you mentioned that, we've decided to add "Free copy of the PC version of the game" as a reward to everyone who donates $25 or more, in addition to the rewards already listed. See the Updates section.
I was a sad panda when I saw that the game wasn't (originally) coming to PC. Now, this issue has been addressed, and I get a special thanks credit! Good times.
Only bad thing is that I'm probably gonna have to buy the game after paying for its development. Make it worth it, chaps.
This game was worth the price of retail game. I wish all the luck in the world and I'm proud to contribute to this and I will continue to spread the word.
What a great example of an indie development. Not only do you build champion games, but you also give birth to community initiatives and provide valuable feedback to other aspiring indie developers. All the best, and can't wait to finally play one of your games (no XBLIG in Oz).
Honestly, I've never played the game, but if you ported it to PC I definitely would. I very much hope you reach your 3,000 goal.
