About this project
We write music. We play music. We as a collective love jazz and the creative process behind improvised music and we want to record this music and share it with you. In order for this to happen, we need your support.
Over the past couple of years, many of you have asked when there will be an album available. Now is the time that you can help make that a reality. The great thing is that through kickstarter.com, this is not simply throwing money at a project, but rather pre-purchasing the finished product.
Not only will there be music, but I'm proud to partner with artist Bonnie Fitch who is working on album artwork for this project. For a limited amount of contributors, there will be numbered and signed prints of her original artwork that will be used on the album. The money is needed for studio time for recording, mixing and mastering the tracks as well as for the initial pressing of physical CD's. Other musicians on Kickstarter have asked for up to around $10,000 for their albums... I'm looking for pledges for less than half of that. While I certainly don't anticipate our project costing $10k, if we do go over budget by a little I'm more than happy to put what I can of my own cash in to the project to finish it off.
Our goal is to raise $4000 in 30 days. As you may have read, the Kickstarter system is all or nothing. If we don't reach our funding goal, no money is charged to the contributors and no funds are disbursed towards the project. On the other hand, if we exceed the funding goal, it will give us more flexibility to realize our vision for the album. The more we can raise, the better the finished project will be.
The combination of vibraphone, piano, bass and drums is one that delivers a broad pallet of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic possibilities. Using this pallet, we aim to make music that is devoid of cliche 'licks' but rather focuses on creating spontaneous musical ideas through interaction and motivic development.
We believe that the potential is great, but for it to be realized this project needs you to back it today! We thank you in advance for believing in us!
