We want to inspire impoverished citizens of foreign countries by telling the story of a individual who faced oppression in Guyana.
^^If you did not see the video above please watch it, it explains a lot about how this is going to happen. Thanks!^^
What will this documentary be about, anyway?
We want to inspire impoverished citizens of foreign countries by telling the story of a individual who faced oppression in Guyana. He now lives in the United States as a successful citizen. By supporting our documentary, one will reveal the story of Troy's quest to a better life. Our goal is to use his story to inspire those who feel as if they are not able to venture to another country to thrive.
What's so attractive about the United States?
Many Americans take living in the Untied States for granted. Some citizens are not thankful for the general freedom that on received by simply being an American. Others fail to acknowledge the high security of the US. Education is frequently unappreciated when some children complain to their parents about having to attend school, when in reality learning is a privilege---some children in other countries do not have such luxury. So, whats not to like about the United States? From citizenship, an alien will have the chance to get a job and begin to cultivate a life that would possibly not be obtainable in the country from which they originated.
How does one obtain success in America?
High crime rates and the selling of drugs tarnish the safety of some countries. People who look to flee from these unsafe environments have the possibility of bringing these problems with them to their new country of residence. Other immigrants may use crime and drugs as a tactic to "get rich quick" in their new setting, but this way of living ends in failure, those who participate in these activities suffer the consequences which may include being deported to their country of origin. Instead of taking measures to gain access to a liberating environment and throwing opportunity away because of illegal actions, one should approach their potential in a more careful, legal way. Following the example of Troy Boyce, the protagonist of this documentary, it is possible to live a happy life without resorting to self-destructive activity. Boyce moved to the United States on a visa and has obtained a position of a supervisor through motivation and perseverance.
What will this documentary illustrate?
The setting of this documentary will begin in Guyana---the place of which Boyce originated. We will illustrate his day-to-day life and define his reasons for wanting to move to another country. Troy will then display the hardships and adversity that he faced on his journey to America.
Great idea, but why do you need my help?
I, the cinematographer, director, and editor, am an 18-year-old college student with a passion for making films. Over the past four years, I have spent endless hours teaching myself cinematography by studying various, free, online sources. My experience includes small projects such as music videos, interviews and a project that i completed for a business. Although I am very to cinematography, I do not have the monetary resources to fund a large production, such as a documentary. This project, in particular will be expensive because it requires traveling to another country. In order to have the chance to have an impact on others' lives, we need help from contributors. We appreciate any support that we are given and promise to not leave you empty handed---we've got rewards for those who help us inspire others! I look forward to pursing this project, and I hope that my passion for videography shines through my work.
What if I don't have funds to donate, can I still help?
Another way to help out production is to tell others! We want to let as many people know about our project as we can, so sharing information about our documentary verbally of over Facebook, Twitter, email or any other online site would be greatly appreciated.
What happens if you don't reach your goal?
Money that is donated to us will not be accepted until the deadline and is only accepted if the monetary goal is met. If our goal is not met, then no money will be taken from our valued backers, and sadly no rewards will be given.
What will my donation fund?
Filming a movie is expensive. I have the knowledge to produce a documentary, but unfortunately, I do not have all of the monetary means to do so. We will need the money for equipment, a promotional website, distribution, etc. Traveling to another country will be expensive and dangerous. In order to get South America safely, most of our crew will have to get vaccinations for deadly diseases such as Malaria. We will also have to transport a large group to the country, and hire a tour guide to keep our crew and equipment safe. We also plan to reward you with a portion of the donations that we receive---we want to to give you the best rewards because you deserve it!
Why is the arrival date January 2014
We wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to complete this project. It should be completed before January 2014, but we allowed ourselves a cushion in case of setbacks. As soon as we finish the production, you will be getting your rewards. Updates will be given throughout the process of creating our documentary. Keep in mind that the more that is contributed, the faster we will be able to produce the film, so please pass this around as much as you can!
Feel free to post any questions in the comment section above. I will check for questions for comments on a daily basis and address them promptly. Also, if you have suggestions for rewards or ideas for the film, don't hesitate to let me know! We look forward to having you on our team!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
