Just a quick update so you all know what's going down...

I sent your digital download codes out over a week ago, so make sure you look back through your emails from me via kickstarter and redeem those codes!

Artwork for the CD is being finished this week, and being sent off for replication... so those should be ready in two or three weeks!

Artwork fo the vinyl is also being finalized this week, and I'll be sending my masters off to the vinyl pressing plant this week as well... but here's the thing vinyl pressing plants are all backed up (almost a two-month wait!) because everyone is going back to vinyl (so that's kind of awesome) but unfortunately that means the vinyl might not be ready until late January. But, it's going to be worth the wait, because it's going to be rad.

Preparations for the party are underway - if you signed up for that, you'll be getting a separate email from me.

This is just a quick update for those of you who have already signed up with my kickstarter project. Because of YOU my project is going to be successful and is already at 131% of the goal! I must express my deepest gratitude to you for believing in this undertaking.

The artwork for the CD & Vinyl is coming along very nicely - can't wait for you to see it! I've also got some cool shows coming up and other exciting things happening for me musically.

With just 8 days remaining in the campaign, there is still time to blow this thing even further out of the water! I'm also looking forward to the exclusive house show / release party! I've got some rad things in store for that night, but I can't share the details with you just yet. Space is limited on that one, and I'd hate for someone not to be able to come simply because they missed the deadline. The date for that is not set in stone yet, but will be in January after the holidays die down for everyone. I will make sure to give plenty of notice. By the way, if you wish you had signed up for the party, it's not too late - I found out that anyone can sign in and upgrade their package.

Does it still help for you to spread the word about my project? YES IT DOES! We have met the goal, which will allow me to replicate CDs and press vinyls, but there are still a lot of other costs that go into releasing and promoting a record.

Hi everyone, Patrick Norton here. This kickstarter project is all about getting my debut album Easy Come Easy Go off the ground. I've been working on this album for two years now, and I'm very excited that it's finished! I recorded and mixed the album myself in my studio apartment in Golden Hill. It was mastered by an excellent mastering engineer (Jeff Lipton of Peerless Mastering in Boston, MA), and it sounds fantastic! All the hard work is done; I just need a little more money to get the album released. It's a very reasonable goal, but it does take everyone getting involved on some level. As you may have noticed, each package includes everything in the previous packages, so the more you pledge, the more you get, although you are free to pledge as much as you would like for any package. I should note that some of the packages are limited, so if you're interested in them, don't wait too long!

The money raised by this project will all go directly to paying for CDs, vinyl, and digital distribution. My goal is to get 1000 CDs, 100 12" vinyl records, and to have the album on iTunes (as well as many other music sites), by sometime in December of 2011. The album WILL be released digitally on November 30, 2011.

A note about the limited edition 12" vinyl - I'm teaming up with two local artists, Rachel Eva & Daniel Heffernan to bring you a very cool record jacket. Rachel is going to be illustrating the cover, while Daniel will be helping me with the layout as well as printing the jackets the old-old-school way, using a printing press. These jackets will be unique, hand-numbered and limited. The artwork for the CD is different.

Unlike my recent solo live performances, the album features full instrumentation on most songs. However, I tried not to "overdo it" with the production. My goal with this album was to present the songs the way I envisioned them to be when I wrote them.

I chose the songs for this project carefully; I wanted the album to feel contiguous in theme, and I hope it is noticeable that the songs are connected in a story-like fashion. I won't say anymore about that here, I'll leave the rest up to your interpretation for now.

WOW. I am so extremely surprised at the amount of support that has come in so far. A healthy mix of friends, fans, & family have brought this project to 80% of its goal in about 48 hours. I honestly don't know what to say.... except THANK YOU.

At this point, it looks like the goal will be met soon, which is ridiculously awesome. Not to sound greedy, but if my goal gets blown out of the water, that would be amazing. Some of you might be wondering, "But what is he gonna do with all that money?" Well, I'll tell you right now that making CDs, vinyls, and distributing my music online is going to cost a lot more than $2500. This was a reasonable goal to get the basic costs covered, but there are so many more necessary things. Promotion, distribution, web design, album artwork, press releases, concert/tour booking, merchandise, etc. Basically all of the things that a record label, manager, and booking agent would do, I do by myself. Which, turns out, takes a lot of time and money too.

Any extra money that I get over my goal will be going STRAIGHT to paying for the merchandise and shipping charges. The limited edition vinyl cover is also not cheap to make. After all the merchandise & shipping is paid for, if there is anything else left over, I will get more merch items (t-shirts, posters, buttons, etc.). Beyond that, the funds raised here will go to help me book shows and/or a tour.

So, let's see how far over the goal we can get! I'm so very thankful for all the support and encouragement, and I'm looking forward to handing/mailing you all your rewards!
