Update #11: Sara's new album has a name and a label!
Dear backers,
It's been more than a year since its inception, and almost a year since its recording. There have been ups and down, but now, thanks in large part to YOU (yes! Your part in backing the kickstarter campaign had REAL, TANGIBLE RESULTS!), my new album has a name, a record label, a Los Angeles record release concert, and a few international ones as well.
I think now is the time for me to say how wonderfully inspiring this campaign has been for me. The music industry is changing faster than even those working in it know how to keep up with. The proliferation of the internet has led not only to the downfall of the traditional record company model, but also to positive change. Anyone who thinks that the young people of this country (and the world) are apathetic have Libya and the internet to look to, to see that in fact we ARE revolutionizing the way the world works. And for me, the change is extremely powerful. To know that I have enough support to fund a large part of this project is extremely inspiring. I spent about an hour today looking around Kickstarter, and I found some amazing projects that will change the way we live our lives. I'm proud to be a Kickstarter supporter, and I'm proud, humbled, and thankful to all of you for your support.
So where are the goods?
The album is entitled "Secret Love", and will be released in early March, 2012 on Origin Records. And get ready to mark your calendars now, because the Los Angeles record release for "Secret Love" is this March 10th, 2012, at the Blue Whale Jazz bar in downtown Los Angeles, CA, at 9 p.m. Tickets will be first come, first served, so make sure to come early! Those of you who got free ticket/s along with your Kickstarter campaign donation will be notified and put on a priority guest list so that you can be assured of a seat at the show.
Additionally, I will be opening the 2012 Guatemala International Jazz Festival and playing at the Nardis Jazz Club in Istanbul, Turkey, both in March 2012. We are working on some more international tour dates presently.
Also, a brand new Http://www.SaraLeib.com is up and running. Best of all, you can preview almost the entire album by visiting the site! And just for you Kickstarter backers, I am working feverishly on making sure that all goes to press early so that I can send you your advanced copy of the CD in late February.
