Update #13: 9th Anniversary of Anti-war Protest is Coming. We Want Your Memories!

Posted on February 2

Dear Friends,

Recently we filmed an interview with the president of Stop the War Coalition, Tony Benn, for 'We Are Many'. We are very pleased to have his support:

The 9th anniversary of the march against the Iraq War on February 15, 2003 is coming soon. We are gathering people's stories and memories of the day to commemorate this historic moment. With history seemingly repeating itself with the drumbeats of war against Iran, it is now more timely and important than ever to remember and learn the lessons of the past, and prevent another costly and catastrophic war. Our film, together with your stories, will make a big splash on the 10th anniversary in Feb 2013. So let's make a start now.

Millions of people said "Not In Our Name" to warmongers 9 years ago. Please share your own reflection and invite people you know who marched/were against the Iraq war to tell their stories too at http://www.wearemany.tv/:

  • TELL your own memory of the day at http://www.wearemany.tv/. You can login with Facebook without the need to register a new account.
  • It is easy to invite your friends by using our Facebook event page http://www.facebook.com/events/102996403157913/. SHARE this event with your Facebook friends (end of the left panel), and INVITE people who might be interested (top-right corner of the page).
  • TWEET our commemoration and crowdsourcing event to your followers and directs them to http://www.wearemany.tv/.

Let's inspire the new generation of people and do our part to bring peace to the world. Thank you.

Love,

We Are Many team

Update #12: WE DID IT! 68 hours left... Let's Keep Going!

Posted on December 10
Dear friends

With our deepest gratitude, we want to thank you for your support and amazing generosity -  we did it! We reached the target!

Everything you have done has made a difference to the making of We Are Many

And now we have 67 hours left. We have an opportunity to keep going. Kickstarter allows us to exceed our goal, and will allow as much money as is given before the deadline of Tuesday the 13th at 5.35 EST or 10.35 GMT

All of us want We Are Many to be a film that will do justice to the monumental day that was 15 February 2003. To do so, we can build on this brilliant start and raise more than the bare minimum of $70K we needed to get started, so we can bring you the best film that can be made.

Just in the last week alone, people have been hearing about the film and writing in to us - we have been contacted by a former US soldier who became the co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against The War, and songwriters who have written songs about the day. The momentum is really building.

Let's keep going! Our community here is 480 + strong, and we want to open it up to as many people as possible - people who share your views about this story, people who marched on February 15th, or who simply have an interest in People Power and who opposed the Iraq War.

In the remaining 67 HOURS, we can really grow! Over this weekend, please consider asking one or two friends to join this community and see if they would either match your pledge or pledge whatever they can. If everyone of you, and each one of us here, succeeds in getting just a few friends to play a part, the number of backers will be more than 1000! Let’s try and reach that number, by passing the word to everyone by Facebook, Twitter, Blog, Email, or a call!

Help us reach the ultimate crowd! Can we attract 1000 plus backers? With all of us working together, I think we can!

Once again, our heartfelt thanks for all your help.

Love.

Amir and the We Are Many Team.

Update #11: Just A Little More!

Posted on December 9

Dear Supporters,

Only 3 days to go and our first Kickstarter goal of $70k is in sight! We are so grateful to all of you for your pledges and support, and with your help we hope we can exceed the target. $70k is the minimum that allows us to start shooting the film. Any extra money pledged will nudge us closer to the full cost of filming and production.

Now is the perfect time to invite your friends to play a part. The film is going to be made and the community is continuing to grow. It will be a wonderful experience for all involved. Please invite anyone you know who might be interested by Facebook, Twitter, emails or phone calls. The We Are Many team has been up all hours this past week doing just this, and it has definitely paid off. If you use Twitter, why not invite your followers to get involved too:

#FF I have backed this amazing documentary #WeAreMany by @15Feb2003 Please RT and Support too here http://kck.st/v37Lbl

We are proud to have you all as backers of this film, but please don't stop now. Just a little more, we will succeed!

Love

Amir and the We Are Many team

Update #10: We are on the way - help us get to the Finish Line!!

Posted on December 7

Hello dear supporters!

Good news! Some recent big donations have made We Are Many more than 60% funded!! We are on the way, and we just need to make a final push for the finish line over the next 5 days.

We are only short of $28,000 - or £18,000. Can you help us find this shortfall? The deadline is Monday night, 12th December.

We are nearly there. Please join us in making the final push to surpass the goal. We are extremely grateful for any big donations, but we also want everyone to join us. Every dollar pledged will make a difference to this project, no matter how seemingly small.

It is also entirely possible for you to increase your pledge at any time. Your card only gets charged when we reach the final target.

If all of you who have so generously pledged so far would encourage your friends that might be interested and sympathetic to the cause, to join you in making a donation, we will make giant strides.

It will be an amazing journey to make We Are Many, and we wholeheartedly welcome everyone to accompany us.

Our humble thanks for everything so far.

Love.

Amir and the We Are Many team

Giving a pledge isn't enough - you've got to go and tell your friends to do the same. I'd be devastated if this project fell short of its goal. Please, everybody, do a little bit extra to bring more people to the project. Thanks!
