What is Dessert Labs?

A gluten-free bakery with a moving storefront, creative flavors and designs, and marketing that embraces social media.

Gluten-free because there isn't enough good tasting gluten-free food available, especially when you're out and about. And it tastes so good that if you don't have a gluten-intolerance, you'll want to eat it anyway.

A moving storefront because who wants to be in one place dragging customers to our little neck of the woods when we can go right to where the people are when they want what we've got. We'll start at the Farmer's Market, open an online store, and then buy a catering truck. A Gourmet Dessert Truck is incredibly versatile and makes a lot of sense for the way we think, live, and eat.

And social media means a lot more than a marketing strategy these days. It means that we want to hear what people say, start a dialogue and have something important to add to it.

How will we make it happen?

We already have a book of recipes, suppliers, all the pieces needed to sell at a Farmer's Market, tons of market research, and the gumption to make it happen.

So we need to do:
- Rent a great (even if it's small) space that's already set up as a kitchen, but maybe in a part of the city that doesn't have good foot traffic.
- Buy supplies
- Apply to Farmer's Markets
- Set up all the legalese for the business side of it.
- Take care of all the little details that will make this not just another business but an excellent addition to the community.

What makes us tick and why we think this thing is worth funding

We're really interested in how small businesses can build a community. How a group of people can make a place better just by interacting. Local produce, local goods, and local customers are all what builds a stronger community. We want to support that kind of community with good practices, like all organic ingredients bought as local as possible, supportive working environments with benefits for employees that empowers them as it empowers us, and the importance of art and creativity everywhere.

So please help us to realize our dream. Every little bit helps us buy more supplies and equipment, and brings us closer to buying our Dessert Truck.

We've set our goal to $1000 as even that will make a sizeable difference to us. However we are hoping to raise at least $5000 through Kickstarter and more through other means. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you are interested in speaking to us about larger funding options.
