First Concept Art for Game; Thank you for your continued support
Hi -
Just wanted to share our first piece of concept art with you all, which will most likely become a couple of classes of fighters in the game. This is the first piece of many, and we are really happy to be posting this today:

We also added a new pledge level which we're really excited about, giving lucky backers the chance to be founders of the United Star Force. This one was suggested by our backers:
PLEDGE $180 OR MORE
SPECIAL USF FOUNDERS REWARD: Your name on a special USF plaque which hangs on the bridge of every capital ship on the fleet that lists you as one of the founders of the United Star Force plus a special code which grants you extra command points (prestige) in the game, and thus earlier access to extra ships and ship parts.
I also just wanted to say thank you again to all of you out there tweeting, telling your friends about the game, FB'ing, and generally spreading the word about this project. there are still 13 days left to get to our goal, and it is within reach. Let's make this happen together!
Kindest Regards,
Garry

D looks badass.
Creator Julio Colon on April 27, 2012
I don't really like E, but I like A for fighter/Interceptor the best.
Creator Tom Page on April 27, 2012
Love them all, except the big gun on the top of F.
Creator Nic on April 26, 2012
Love 'em all. If I had to pick a favorite... it would be C!
Creator Alexander Lyakhov on April 26, 2012
IMHO: E for interceptor; A for heavy fighter; B is modification of A but has no visible guns, maybe utility vessel or missile boat; C & D - fighter-bomber, I think.
Creator Daniel on April 26, 2012
Awesome.
I like B for an interceptor, E for a space-superiority fighter.
The large winglets on F, G, H, C and D make them look like in-atmosphere ships - bigger wings just make you less menuverable in space (higher moment of intertia).
Creator Master Jedi on April 26, 2012
I like A, it reminds me of a Viper from Battlestar Galactica mixed with a modern fighter jet or something. They all look awesome though.
Creator Ben Thomson on April 25, 2012
Agreed, I think they look great. My first thought as well was it was excellent to see the design taking into account the theatres of war they will need to be involved in, both atmospheric and the void. I can't wait to see the progression and how these will evolve, and what they handle like in game!
Creator Matt C on April 25, 2012
Going with F myself. These designs are great, and I would love to fly many of them. In future videos, press releases, etc these bad boys should be front and center.
Creator Ben McGee on April 25, 2012
These fighter designs are fantastic! I appreciate that many of them contain details, wing-stabilizers, paneling, etc., that give them a real-world edge. Because these are designed to travel both in-and-out of an atmosphere, there are certain design limitations based on physics, and this is a good thing! A Tie Fighter would tear itself apart the first time it tried to turn in an atmosphere, whereas given the right powerplant and thrust, these would easily fly. A suggestion for future concept art is to see exo-atmospheric-only enemy craft, for instance. This would broaden up design parameters to include completely aerodynamically-impossible designs, such as the Tie Fighter. Great work, and the art makes a real statement for the project!

No prob, Christian - we really listen to the feedback, and know that everybody isn't going to love everything we do. There are going to be lots of fighters in this game and you are only seeing the first one or two. Also, none of the cool logos and symbology has been placed yet. And finally, this isn't final art, but an intermediate step - we still have another detail pass to go. Let them sink in for a while...
Creator Christian Dobbins on April 25, 2012
Not bad...though I'd say they lack the kind of iconic look that really captures players imaginations. For instance when you see the starship Enterprise or a Tie Fighter in silohuette people know immediately what they are. How about the Dralthi fighter in Wing Commander...same thing for anyone who has played that series. These are feeling a bit generic to me right now. Sorry if that sounds harsh. Only trying to help.

nice, looking forward to more art!! keep up the good work
Creator Adam Stamos on April 25, 2012
I have to admit, your proof of concept footage in your original introduction video had me doubting the possible ship design but I'm really digging these... I really hope we can figure out how to get a large influx of pledges soon, I'm getting nervous here.
Creator Andrei Petrov on April 25, 2012
I like them all. G in particular. I hope you'll have very distinguished looks between factions... like EVE online :)
I hope you make the money.
Creator Escape Hatch Entertainment on April 25, 2012
Absolutely - we're deep in fighter mode right now, but Cap Ships and a couple battle environments are next on the slate. (My personal favorite so far is E, by the way...)
Creator Laurence Potter on April 25, 2012
ya E looks like it could pack more punch!! loving the artwork! will there be concept art for capitol ships and frigate type ships down the road?
Creator Escape Hatch Entertainment on April 25, 2012
Hi Laurence - I could see D going a couple different directions...:)
Creator Laurence Potter on April 25, 2012
Loving D, heavy bomber of some kind?
