Hello Kickstarter, my name is Nate Lundstrom and I am the owner and designer of a new label called THE SAND & THE SPRAY, and I am looking for backers for my upcoming collection.

There are a number of products that I am looking to produce this next year and I need your help to make it possible. I started the line with a few bags, but hope to branch out as the brand grows. My design is greatly influenced by exploration with a touch of rock and roll.

THE NAME:
People often ask me about the name of the brand and the direct correlation with the sea that it brings. While the name is clearly influenced by the sea, it should also conjure up the exhilaration of the adventure of exploration. Whether it was setting sail to the Yukon territory to strike it rich, a cowboy setting out cross country in the American West, or crossing the sands of Arabia by camel, explorers for millennia have encountered THE SAND & THE SPRAY.

THE BEGINNING:
I originally started with THE SAND & THE SPRAY because I was not satisfied with what I was finding in the messenger bag market. What I was finding was either really great bags in the high fashion market that seemed ridiculously priced or cheap bags that were mass-produced and lacked any individuality. I decided to create a bag that I would use, would be unique, and would last. So, I started on the process of learning all that I could to reach a place of creating a successful product and business.

PRODUCTS:
My goal with THE SAND & THE SPRAY is to create items using small scale production and limited runs. I really like to utilize organic fabrics & natural dyes as much as possible. I also believe incorporating custom hardware and personalized detail in the product trim allows the products to stand out and provide a sense of individuality that in today’s era of mass production is often missed. I am learning as I go and it has been a blast so far.
