I would like to travel from Brooklyn NY to the Dodge Dart Assembly Plant in Belvidere IL, and publish a photography book about it.
The Dodge Dart has been out of production since 1976, but the Chrysler Corporation is bringing it back to life in 2013. Dodge Dart is part of the lower-priced Chrysler's Mopar family of vehicles that had prominence in the early 60s and 70s. Over its short production run, the Dart earned a reputation as a sturdy, dependable car. The new 2013 Dodge Dart will be compact, affordable, and economical (40 mpg on some models).

A little about me: I am a photographer from Brooklyn, New York. I began shooting friends and family around 2002. I published a book of photography in 2010 and have been exhibited at a gallery in Williamsburg Brooklyn. You can see some of my work on my blog:
A few years ago, a friend of mine relinquished ownership of her 1967 Dodge Dart to me and I have been incredibly amazed by the experience. It has really been a life changing experience to say the least. The Slant-6, 170 cu. in, 2.8 liter engine was designed to last and I am living proof of that. Along with my mechanic and best friend Jacob, we replaced a few parts here and there and made sure the car was running at optimal performance. It runs today as well as it did when it came off the line in 1967.
So the project is as follows: I would like to drive my 1967 Dodge Dart from my hometown of Brooklyn, New York to the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Belvidere Illinois, where they are currently assembling Darts to be distributed throughout the country. Along my route, I would like to visit other Classic Dodge Dart owners to talk to them about their automobiles, the Dodge Dart history and what the future holds for the Dart.
I would like to photograph the owners along with their respective vehicles. The images will be edited and later entered into a 100-150 page color photography book with the best photos from the project. The book will be available for purchase from my blurb.com storefront found here:
I will also be printing a small number of prints for sale and exhibition. Certain pledges will receive limited edition signed prints. I will also exhibit some of this work at a Gallery in New York City later this year.
What I hope to achieve from this project is a photography book that chronicles the evolution of the Dodge Dart from the point of view of other Dodge Dart enthusiasts that I have met over the years. Future generations will be able to go back and reference this book for inspiration and admiration.
