"Pittsburgh Squirts" is a book packed full of good old fashion comic strip humor based on two youth hockey players in Pittsburgh.
My project is to produce an eighty (+) page book full of comic strips and include a commentary under each strip about what inspired me to write it. The comic strips are built around two primary characters “Ryan and Nick”. They are youth hockey players in the 8-10 year old range sitting in the penalty box (or on the bench) cracking jokes about just about everything under the sun but from a kids perspective.
It wasn’t difficult coming up with enough material for a book. I started drawing the comic strips a while back just for fun. The kids on my son's various hockey teams gave me plenty of material and it didn’t take long for the strips to pile up. So here I am on kickstarter.com hoping to fulfill a dream of publishing a book.
My goal is to publish 100 books with roughly 80 pages of content. All of the comic strips are written and over 50 are illustrated and lettered.
I need the Kickstarter community's assistance to cover the publishing cost which includes editing, layout, copyright, ISBN code, etc. as well as printing costs and swag.
I've included a few strips below to give you an idea of the type of humor in the strip since these haven't been published in the past.
Also, below is the front and back of the trading card as well as the jersey cards that come as a reward for certain funding levels. The jersey cards will be signed and numbered. There are only 25 of each and come in a protective case.
