Who are these guys and what the hell is Big Ass Canvas?
We're Travis and Zach and we like to do cool things that involve cool people. So, one day when trying to determine what to do with our free time, we came up with the idea put a big ass canvas in a place with high foot traffic and allow people walking by to contribute to the art work, a sort of community art experiment. We didn't really know what would happen and we couldn't find anything about it online, so we decided to give it a shot.
Soon enough we launched our first canvas on the University of Texas campus. It was a great success, with roughly 200 people contributing! So, what next? MORE CANVASES.
As you can see from the video, both artists and non artists loved the idea and loved participating. Now we are raising money to make the next 3 events happen in other hot spot Austin locations, followed by a big party (read FUN) to auction them all off.
What We Need:
We (yes, JUST the two of us!) hand built the canvas, bought all the paint and supplies, and organized the whole event, which in total cost us (fully out of pocket) about $500. Now, we need about another $2000 for the following three canvases to be EVEN BETTER! This amount will cover the paint / materials, flyers / posters, and extra supplies to make the experience memorable. Big Ass Canvas is getting bigger.

Big Ass Canvas is an experience that needs to be witnessed first hand in order to fully appreciate. We've decided to reward our contributors with a slice of that experience. Literally, a slice of the drop cloth from the final canvas event party. People will be throwing all sorts of paint and what doesn't land on the canvas will land on the drop cloth. From there we will have everyone that helped make Big Ass Canvas happen sign the cloth, divide it up, and mail a portion to you!
