Survivors of the sex trade industry tell their stories of abuse and exploitation as young girls, survival and growth as women.

The biggest misconception about prostitution is that it is a choice, acknowledges Jeri Williams, Neighborhood Program Coordinator at City of Portland. In reality most of these girls are forced into it, sometimes even sold into it by a parent. Ms. Williams and other survivors tell their stories of exploitation as young girls, survival and growth as women. As their stories unfold, audiences' perceptions of prostitution are forever changed, bringing about awareness and a call to action.

Last year Lunacy Stageworks brought to Portland audiences, "Stories: From the Streets," in collaboration with writers from Street Roots newspaper, written and performed by the homeless. Lunacy Stageworks continues their Stories series, this year featuring survivors of the sex trade. At Lunacy we have a passion for exploring underground cultures and lending a forum in which to tell their "war stories," bringing about greater awareness around the Portland metro communtity.

Please help us raise funds so we can continue our work for the Fertile Ground Festival 2012 and in the years to come.  Money donated will go towards rental of the theatre space, and equipment for sound, lighting and visuals to help make these women's stories come alive.

Show your support for innovative new works by local theatre artists by donating anywhere from $1 on up.  Check out the rewards you'll recieve when you donate on this page to your right.  And most importantly come see the show!
