About this project
Hi friends!
A great opportunity has been given to us. We will produce a new work by our fellow playwright Josh Sohn for the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival in July. This play will be staged on Saturday, July 17th at the Lion Theatre and judged by industry greats. If it wins, we will perform an encore performance and be published in the Samuel French anthology.
Help us make this happen!
We need your support. Any donation is appreciated. This will go to all production costs: set design, costuming, equity fees, promotion, stage management, rehearsal venues, etc.
About the play: "Laid Plans" is an eloquent exploration of the raw disconnection of family. A fiercely stubborn mother and daughter weave in and out of each others' memories, each searching for light.
About the author: Josh Sohn has been writing for as long as he can remember. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Saltmag.net, Gelf Magazine, and various other publications. His plays have been performed by Flux Theatre Ensemble, Packawallop Productions’ The Pack, Tip My Cup’s 24 Hour Quickie Festival, Young Playwrights’ Group, and the Where Eagles Dare studios. Last summer, his play, "Jump," was a finalist in the Strawberry Festival and was performed in the Awards Ceremony at Symphony Space. He currently lives in Brooklyn.
About the production company:
Boomslang is the theater branch of our Brooklyn-based creative collective, Goddamn Cobras. We aim to connect with innovators in different fields (video, photography, food, performance, music) to harness a spirit of community and interdisciplinary collaboration. Boomslang seeks to create performance experiences that are accessible but non-traditional, evoking an organic yet unconventional aesthetic.
Thanks for supporting new work in the theatre! We send you our love. Send us yours.
