Update #13 · May 10, 2013 · comment

Hi Folks,

The new Giuseppi Logan CD of the June 2012 NYC session is in! We have received limited quantities for sale of the new Giuseppi Logan CD from our partner label in France.  See the store at  www.edpettersen.com to order  This is the brilliant follow up to the Kickstarter project The Giuseppi Logan project which you graciously supported.

And They Were Cool recaptures the compositional genius of Logan's sixties heyday.  As you know Giuseppi Logan was a contemporary of Albert Ayler, John Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders and an accomplished sax player, as well as clarinet, flute and piano player. This pure free jazz album pairs Logan with young sax talent Jessica Lurie, an accomplished artist in her own right and the dualing saxes add tension and push Giuseppi to his full potenital . With improving health and a sound supporting cast,  Larry Roland on bass and Ed Pettersen on guitar and effects), Logan's playing rivals the previous works for which he is reknown. Recorded at the highest fidelity and mastered by one of the great mastering engineers, And They Were Cool delivers on performance, fidelity and composition to create a rare gem for improv lovers to add to their collection. Label: Improvising Beings in partnership with the Mad King Edmund Collective. CD only.

Track Listings:

1 Taking a walk in the park

2 with my dog Sam

3 singing the blues

4 trying to decide

5 which path to choose

6 and which to avoid

Regards,

Mad King Edmund

PS For high fidelity folks, if you purchase the CD online we can make available high res download for you as an alternate option.  Just message us and we'll provide details.

Giuseppi Logan Kickstarter #2 - "And They Were Cool

Update #12 · Jan 14, 2013 · comment

Hi All,

The next in the record in the Giuseppi Logan series was successfully recorded in June of this year as we reported earlier.  The new recording "And They Were Cool" features Giuseppi on both sax and piano and pairs him with the well known young multi-instrumentatlist Jessica Lurie for some rare jazz improv.   The Kickstarter to press vinyl for the project will close in just four days at http://kck.st/T0su73

In the event that the Kickstarter campaign for vinyl does not get funded, we will reach out to everyone who subscribed to let you know how you can purchase a CD or download online.  It's also possible that we will relaunch a Kickstarter or similar effort to press vinyl if the project gains press that is likely to make it viable.  In the meantime if you know just one person who still wants vinyl, it will only take about 50 pledges to make goal.  That's http://kck.st/T0su73 to pledge via Kickstarter and your Amazon payment account. And of course you will be charged only if the project funds by January 19th.

Regards,

Mad King Edmund

New Giuseppi Logan Recording

Update #10 · Dec 9, 2012 · comment

Hi Folks,

If you missed the announcement, there is a new Giuseppi Logan reecording made this year as a follow up to the Giuesppi Logan Project.  Read all about it at http://kck.st/T0su73

We're writing to let you know that the new record "And They Were Cool.." is being released on CD in Europe and vinyl LPs will be pressed only if the new Kickstarter campaign meets its minimum goal, which will require about 90 vinyl award pledges.  We have only 15 pledges for vinyl so far, so if you are keen on getting an LP or know someone that is, please make your way to the link above.  If you're a serious collector, you will to make sure vinyl gets pressed on this extraordinary recording that rivals Giuseppi's best work from back in the day.  Seriously, it's that good.

Regards,
The Mad King Edmund Collective

Update #9 · Nov 20, 2012 · 1 comment

Hi All,

Exciting news - a new opportunity to support the brand new recording "And They Were Cool" of Giuseppi Logan is now up on Kickstarter at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/710927283/giuseppi-logan-and-they-were-cool-jazz-improv

Please take a minute to read about the new project and pat yourself on the back for helping to make possible the pressing of the first recording, and also a brilliant follow up recording. This new Kickstarter project will be your ONLY opportunity to secure an LP of the new recording if you are among the vinyl lovers in our group. Our label partner in France Improvising Beings is doing a CD only release. You can also contribute to the new project and receive CD or download but the main goal is to press vinyl and it will be a very very limited edition. So make sure you reserve yours now while you have time off this weekend to take care of important things like adding to your music collection.

To succeed in pressing vinyl we only need half as many supporters as the first project but we don't have a New York Times article to spread the word this time.  So if you participate in any forums, blogs, online discussions, or just feel compelled to tell your friends what they should be listening to, please pass along the link above and encourage every jazz lover you meet to check it out.  Thanks for your support!

Happy Thanksgiving

The Mad King Edmund Collective
