We’re announcing a new tier – for $21 (a $6 upgrade from the basic tier) – we will give you access to developer updates and videos. Everyone above $21 already – don’t worry, you’re covered. What might you find in the developer updates?
- Exclusive first looks at game content
- Pieces of fiction from the game before release.
- Videos updates from the devs.
For example, upgrading to the $21 level might get you an exclusive look at concept art, such as this piece from Mazin, our GUI/concept artist:

@Bryce and British: I think these are just meant to be a little added incentive for people who have already made pledges to add a tiny bit more, as per their last update where they stated... Let me check.. "The $260 tier could be reached for less than $5 per backer." So if everyone on the base pledge goes a little extra, that'll shoot them right up to the $260 tier, or thereabouts.
You're right, it's not really anything serious, and if you're not interested in it there will be the usual updates and news reports anyway, but this gives people (like me) who only put down as much as they need to for the tier they want a reason to add a little more.
I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I don't personally think it's a problem.

I'd rather have more content for hitting (attainable) goal stretches, than... stuff that is not content.
First looks and videos updates are nice, but they don't make the final game better, or more attractive as a whole.

The $21.00 pledge seems a little underhanded to me. I realize every dollar helps make this game better, but I anticipated quality updates anyway. I like the project, but I feel a bit hustled for more money for a "perk" that shouldn't be to the exclusion of the lowest tier in the first place imho.

Also in relation to upgrading the tier system a few other games have done similar things with in game content. Why not add a monument somewhere in the school or town with a list of people who assisted with the 'Founding of Splendid', notable citizens from the towns creation, its the sort of thing you'd find in a school or town centre anyway. This is kinda accurate as people how are now pledging to the game ARE helping found this fictional towns existence through your work :D and for backers it can be counted as a personal legacy to know that somewhere in a digitally zombie infested world their name stands with others proudly displayed for all undead and barely living to see.

Good idea for a short pick up that I'm confident might help us reach the 300k goal but I don't think it's enough to get 8000 people come up with 100k for the final goal of 360k :(

"@DoubleBear a couple of friendly advices maybe already said but that I think would hit the mark (repetita iuvant).
1. I think many would chip in up to 10-15$ more for a t-shirt, even if it were to be a low-quality one so there could be an another tier for 25-30$ made it specifically for the last 48 hours... it would ensure the 300k at least, if not more! Hitting 100$ to get the t-shirt it's not a great marketing choice in my opinion;
2. also, making a public update/statement that IF the games makes it to Steam we'll be able to reedem it will probably get you a lot more of those 2-games 30$ tier... probably you'd at least compensate for those who won't buy the game to other people because there's no multiplayer ;-)

Was already thinking about upgrading my pledge a bit to help reach some of the higher stretch goals but the new tier definitely convinced me. I hope more of the lower backers upgrade their's too. Remember we're still going to have to wait a long time to actually play the game and the extended insight will help those last months pass quicker.

@DoubleBear you could encourage quality creative writing by offering to feature the best examples of an epitaph/ final words/journal entry in a more prominent part of the game. Say, the player character enters a suburban home to find a family huddled together in the car, in the garage, with all the windows blocked up... A particularly poignant piece of writing could make it's way into this singular scene. I think a lot of backers would be stoked to be able to contribute some small thing creatively to the game, to leave their mark :)

@DoubleBear fair enough. I was just thinking of super low rez images anyway otherwise it'd pretty hefty memory-wise. CC place-holder images could do just as well. Either way having the possibility of having your name, maybe with a short backer-written epitaph by our loved ones would be kind of a neat little creative exercise for a lot of us (and SUPER narcissistic ;)

Nice addition guys! Something that's only going to cost you a little time every now and then but very appealing to those only able to pledge at lower tiers. I'm surprised you're only adding it in now. As a $100 backer this rounds out the package very nicely for me, thanks!
Another suggestion I'd make for a lower end tier addition is backers' names and/or photos discoverable in-game somewhere on a memorial wall. Sort of a "lest we forget" kind of thing.

$30 pledger here, is there anything stopping the developers of this game from collecting additional pledges after the time limit has ended by some other means? Personally I'd love to see 'zones of control' in the game but we can agree that 120k in 48hours is askign for alot.
