She's been told she has the soul of a black woman in a young girl's body, singing blues like no one else in Oregon. She needs a CD!
I'm 12 years old and am told I'm the youngest gigging blues singer in Oregon! People often come up to me in tears after a performance, asking if I have a CD because they were so moved by what they heard. I want to be able to say "yes!" Also, though I've performed at some pretty great blues festivals and venues, I really want to sing at this year's Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, Oregon. It's the second largest blues festival in the country. All I need is a CD to be considered.
Last spring, I started taking guitar lessons from a really great musician, David Frank (www.davidmichaelfrankmusic.com). He leads a few hot bands, has a degree in recording, and also owns a recording studio specializing in "rising young stars." He has also been accompanying me on guitar and drums at many of my shows. He puts a lot of passion into his music and projects and will be recording this CD and playing on it.
My plan is to make a 7-song CD that's a mixture of blues, jazz, and soul. It will feature a song I recently wrote (my first!), plus:
• Lucky by Molly Johnson • Let it Be by Paul McCartney and John Lennon • The Thrill is Gone by BB King • Oil & Water by Fernando Jones • At Last by Etta James • Feeling Good by Nina Simone
You can hear me do versions of all these songs on my "SavannaTunes" YouTube channel or my web site at www.SavannaCoen.com. The CD versions will be different, though, because they will be with a full band!
The money I need to raise to complete the CD and print 300 copies will go toward studio and musician time, production, mastering, printing, graphic design, and the jewel cases and inserts.
This won't be a cheap production like recording on a computer and burning your own disks. The quality will be really high and will blow you away!
