Make art happen in Rockport! Bring a piece of original art you love to the Art Exchange. Take home one you love more.
What is the Art Exchange?
The Art Exchange is a great chance to change up the art in your life while being part of the public arts scene in Rockport. You can bring an original piece - either your own or one from your collection - to downtown Rockport and exchange it for an original work that someone else brought to the Art Exchange. Spectators are also welcome at this free community party. Food and tunes will also be a part of the Art Exchange. To watch a 22-second video about the Art Exchange, click
Why Be a Part of the Art Exchange?
Anyone familiar with the beautiful coastal village of Rockport, Massachusetts knows that the town has been attracting artists for generations. The downside of this is that young artists and contemporary art can get a little mired in this outstanding artistic legacy. So events like the Art Exchange are important, helping make art in Rockport relevant while speaking to a very lively undercurrent of young artists who are interested in an arts scene in our community. And yes! There IS a vibrant visual arts scene in Rockport. We just need to make it a bit (well, a lot) more public!
Who is Supporting the Art Exchange?
You, hopefully! If you've found the idea behind the Art Exchange to be compelling, we would very much appreciate anything you would like to contribute to help support Art Now's Art Exchange. And we would LOVE it if you could come on August 18th to be a part of the event, which will no doubt be a lively good time. Because our events are community-driven, having you be a part of the Art Exchange on Kickstarter makes sense.
p.s. What or Who is Art Now Rockport, the organizer of the Art Exchange?
Art Now Rockport is a young, mostly conceptual organization (which consists of Sarah Kelly and a tiny cast of art enthusiasts and supporters at this point) which aims to mix things up in Rockport by creating community-driven events -- events which focus on the arts while including everyone from emerging to established artists. Art Now threw its first party in 2011. For more or to get involved, go to the website: www.artnowrockport.com
