Paracord's new best friend.

"Throw me a couple Fish Bones for this tent will ya?"

If it’s worth tying, it’s worth tying with paracord! Only thing is, untying knots in paracord can take superhero strength and like Willie Nelson, "I ain't Superman".

My contribution is this little guy; “Fish Bone”. A no knots cord tightener specifically designed for paracord. Only problem for these little fishies is I don't have the means to produce them.

With your support I'll work with metal fabricators to get them cut. From there, I'll have them polished and shipped to your front door. You'll be out in the wilderness with your new buddy in no time!

Form: Measuring in at ½" x 2", it’s not awkward in your pocket and looks great as a zipper pull. Plus fish are cool and associated with good luck!!!

Function: It’s easy to set up and even easier to undo. The smooth edges keep it from catching on other gear while in use. It can be used "in line", "in loop", "quick release", "splice", or however else you can think of. Compact but mighty, a few simple wraps does all the work.

NOTE: Not for climbing or load bearing applications where failure would cause damage or injury.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

I already have a metal fabrication shop lined up. I've used them before for a more complex project and it turned out well. However, being that I'm going to an outside shop, delays in their schedule would mean a delay with mine.

Coordinating a massive shipping effort could also be a challenge. I'm not in this alone though. My brother Eldrick is a shipping pro! Seriously, he does it for a living. He'll be with me every step of the way.

    Yes. No extra shipping cost for my foreign friends unless it's for the $50 pledge (then add $5).

  • Which Fish Bone should I pick? What is the difference between aluminum, steel, and titanium?

    Choosing which one boils down to your preference on strength to weight. 

    Here are some properties of each.

    Stainless steel:
    Resists corrosion 
    Bright appearance
    Normally non-magnetic 
    Great fatigue and impact resistance
    Durable

    Aluminum:
    Resists corrosion 
    High strength to weight ratio
    Can be anodized in different colors
    Non-magnetic

    Titanium:

    More than twice as strong as aluminum

  • How much can it hold?
    Field testing has not been done yet. As soon as I have the first stainless steel model I'll run it through testing all the way up to failure. I'll even test it with the paracord in different conditions like wet, dirty, and soapy. I'll be sure to post the results in an update. Brent
