Six Degrees Dance showcases 6 different choreographers all working around a central theme and asks: How would you respond to injustice?

Dear Friends,

Art communicates. Integral to any good communication is sincerity, openness, commitment, and an entity outside oneself to give and receive that communication. That is where you guys come in! Venturing into communion through the arts is an act of love and courage. It takes artists, audiences and sponsors to keep those channels open.

Six Degrees Dance was re-launched in 2011 with the mission of creating dance as a way of communion, of bringing together diverse artists with diverse experiences and collaborating to create something new and shared. We wish to bring our kinesthetic expressions to equally diverse audiences, celebrating unity and the commonality of the human experience through diversity.

Our newest project extends that idea, and celebrates the unique point of view individuals bring, in an evening of dance playing off our name. Using the idea of six degrees of separation, 6 choreographers from NYC to RI, all removed from myself by one degree, will create a piece centered around the same theme: How do we respond to injustice? Pieces ranging in topic from a silent protest against genocide in Chile, to a response about a wrongful incarceration in the US, all six pieces embody very different takes on the same idea.

In order to produce this evening, we need your help! Your donation will help produce and present this show, bringing together artists from four states in a shared evening of dance.

Your contribution makes it possible to:

- rent a theatre in Manhattan for 2 nights of performances

-provide wages for all the collaborating artists

- afford marketing promotions: postcards, photography, video, etc...

Please know that any amount you can give is greatly appreciated and nothing is too small to make a big difference! We look forward to sharing this project with you.
