Kickstarter

Hey friends,

My name is Zack, and I'm a singer / songwriter from Danville, CA. Two years ago I started a music project called The Sound of Sunsets and last year I recorded and independently released a self-titled demo album. It was something that I mostly did just for fun on my own because I love making music. You can check it out for yourself right here: http://thesoundofsunsets.bandcamp.com/

Over the last few months I have written a new batch of songs, for a new full-length album that I have decided to title "Meet the Morning". Also, this time around instead of doing the recording myself, I have booked recording time in a professional studio located in Seattle. I'm set to enter the studio on May 11th, and I aim to release the album online on August 28th. I'll also probably release a single from the album between that time.

I've decided to record these songs in a studio because I want them to reach their full potential in overall production and sound quality, along with the hope that one day I could be traveling across the country singing these songs. Music has always been a huge passion of mine, so I'd love the opportunity to have these songs take me places.

The thing about booking studio time, however, is that it is quite expensive, but I believe it is well worth it in order to produce music of a high caliber production quality for all of you to enjoy. So, I've created this Kickstarter project to ask for help from you to fund this studio time. The overall cost of my studio time to finish a full-length album will be about $2000, and so I've set the funding goal accordingly.

Another thing I'd like to mention about this album is that I am dedicating it to my friend Ryan Buchanan. In June of last year Ryan was the victim of a beach accident in Santa Cruz, CA which put him in a coma, and he has been comatose ever since. On February 4, I had the honor of playing in a benefit concert along with Shawn McDonald and Paul Johnson to raise money for Ryan's family to pay his medical bills, and to retrofit their home so that he could live and be taken care of at home. In honor of this album being dedicated to him, I've decided that 25% percent of all of the sales made from this album (not including the funding from Kickstarter) will be donated to his family via a trust fund setup in his name.
