HOW THINGS STARTED
On April 20th, 2006, (almost 5 years ago!), I made a guitar tutorial for a Sufjan Stevens song that people liked a lot. I made the video because I always wished that I could learn some of my favorite (usually somewhat obscure) songs by watching videos, and I thought if I'm obsessed with learning how to play these songs, I'm sure there's lots of people out there who feel the same way. The video got a lot of positive feedback, and from that day on, making guitar tutorials turned into a full fledged hobby.
WHAT I'D LOVE TO BE ABLE TO DO
After the hundreds of videos I've made, I want to give recording my own songs in a real recording studio a try. I recorded an album at home, by myself once (inspired by Sufjan Stevens, I tried playing all the instruments and doing everything alone...needless to say, it was a challenge!) I have hundreds of demos and sketches for songs, but I've never really had the chance to flesh out my own recordings. I'm a very limited musician, chops wise, and I'd love to see how my songs could grow if given the right resources.
Nothing moves me like an amazing artist, song, or album. It's one of the greatest feelings in the world when you discover new music that really means something to you, makes you feel alive for the day. I want to try my hand at making an album that give that same feeling to someone. At the end of the day, I'm a huge music geek, and as much as I love making tutorials and playing cover songs, I'd really love to give it a shot and see what I'm capable of.
